Doonesbury Anti Gun Starbucks Comic – Day 6

And it continues…

Arguably the most insulting one yet.

Apparently we are morons and yahoos, prone to violence, who carry guns only for intimidation, and their phallic (WTF?!) resemblance.

  1. Wow, he must really hate guns, opinions are opinions, but to me this is just a slap in the face.

  2. Like I say at my own place, you’d think he’d have come up with something a bit more original than a “gun=phallic substitute” joke. And don’t you love how Alex called the guns “toys”?

The “toy” comment was definitely an interesting touch

Who says that Starbuck’s is condoning open carry? Not banning something is not equal to condoning it. They want to be left out of the discussion, but all he’s doing is beating a dead horse and trying to revive the ‘controversy’ (if following the law can be called ‘controversy’).

This comic is, in my mind at least, bordering on libel. Why use your first amendment rights to defame those who exercise their second amendment rights?

It seems to me he’s getting his information about open carry from the articles about open carrying in California (since it’s nearly impossible to get a handgun legally in NYC). No one in their right mind would UOC if LOC or CCW were an option.

I’m no lawyer, but I agree.

He’s a journalist — and yes, I know I use the term very loosely. It’s just what they do, just like a snake bites and a scorpion stings.

Trudeau is the one criminally irresponsible here. There are very few people that carry that would consider readying their guns other than in a situation that is already life-threatening. Gun owners are invariably much more civil in public discourse than the non owners. Trudeau is promoting the Hollywood myth that guns are great for settling arguments. That’s totally contrary to any gun owner I know.
