Guns Seized In Laredo Texas

Laredo TX – Acting on a tip, police pulled over a truck on Saturday. Inside, they discovered 147 new AK-47 rifles, still in their boxes; 263 high-capacity magazines; 53 bayonets; and 10,000 rounds of ammunition — enough for a small army.

The full story (Banana clips and all) – HERE

LOL bayonets!

Reminds me of this video on drive-by bayoneting, which is no doubt an epidemic:

Also, I have a question for those who might know.  Is ammunition that hard to come by in Mexico, that it needs to be smuggled as well?

  1. Me some hows thinks, that when the “origination” or this shipment is found, and doesn’t fit into this administration’s and the media’s current political discourse about guns and Mexico, this story will be sent sown the memory hole real quick.

heh yea no kidding. It’s amazing how stories that are not politically favorable just disappear.

And you know what is going to happen? The anti-gunners are going to jump on this because it is one of the few occasions where guns have been smuggled to Mexico from America. I have a feeling that the guns were actual assault rifles, making them illegal for us plebeians. But that won’t stop them from using this to try and pass more legislation.

Yea they will use anything they can to further their cause. I wish these stories didn’t disappear so fast, because I’d love to know more of the details.

Whover gave them that amount of AKs had a pretty good sense of humour. 297 would have been good, because 297.18 is 7.62X39 :)

hehe yea that would have been subtlety awesome!

  4. 147 rifles, 263 magazines, 10000 rnds of ammo – sounds like the fixin’s for a pretty good morning at the range, to me.

Re: the inclusion of ammo – Maybe it was one of those enticements to buy like you see on TV commercials. You know: “buy the Ginsu Knives and get this fabulous spiral vegetable slicer..”? :) If I needed guns and ammo and had a choice between buying them all at once or two different places, as long as the total price is right I’ll go for convenience and one-stop shopping.

True, I suppose of they are willing to deliver ammo to.. then why not? Nothing would suck more than to have 147 guns but no ammo. Although, now they have 0 guns and 0 ammo.

10,000 rounds between 147 rifles: “Enough for a small army”?

“You all get 68 rounds apiece. One full mag for the rifle, one spare, and 8 rounds to practice with.”
“But, only 116 of you get 2 mags, the other 31 of you will have to get by on one, but you do get a bayonet. So, use your 3 seconds of blistering full auto fire to its best effect, then, charge in like hell.”

LOL 10000 rounds is pretty funny when you break it down like that.
