PTR-91 Rifles in Production and in Action

Similar to The People Who Make Black Hills Ammunition video I posted about previously:

That song is catchy. It reminds me of a Kid Cudi joint I like, I can’t pinpoint which one though.

I’ve never shot anything from PTR-91, but the video gives me the impression that the fit and finish of their rifles is damn nice… can anyone verify this?

I like this trend towards firearm related companies making professional looking videos.

PTR’s rifle exhibit excellent workmanship and are generally well made. It’s just too bad they’re G3s.

I will admit this is some very compelling advertising. I don’t know if I would ever spend as much as they want me to on one of their rifles, but this video sure makes me want to. :D

I hope more firearms manufacturers pick up on this though and start using a different approach to selling their products, instead of the canned guitar riffs and random-guy-talking-in-a-gravel-voice they use now. I think it would help legitimize firearm ownership to the general public, once they realize that we aren’t a bunch of crazies.

I have a SC, K and recently got a MSG model, so yea.. i kinda like the PTRs :} Never had an issue with the PTRs in terms of ammo, although i know others have. Have fed them cheap Paki, South African, Hirtenberger, Radway Green, and it eats em all. Actually no.. the only hiccup i ever had was ironically one ftf on a box of fggm. Paid about $1k ish for the K and a bit more for the SC. The MSG is around $1600-$2k, their MSG-90 clone, and while not a sub-moa weapon, i hit metal silhouettes easily all the way to 800 (longest range within driving distance).

I <3 my 91SC. It eats everything I throw at it and is very reliable.

I wish I could say the same as Vin and scurvy, my PTR-91F won’t shoot anything with a tar sealant around the part of the bullet that contacts the neck of the case (you can’t see this sealant from the outside either, you have to pull the bullet to see if it’s tarred or not complicating ammo purchasing).

It’ll fire, but after a few shots it stops cycling. They say this happens because the chamber gets tarred up. This same ammo won’t tar a regular chamber though because the HK design lets gases flow back into the chamber to extract the round.

I’m not bashing PTR, i love the finish on the rifle, it’s very well done and many kudos to them for making the hk pattern rifle a bit more affordable for us with little money. I paid 750 for mine. It’s been one of my dream rifles to own and they make it feasible. Now if I could only find a quality m1a for an affordable price…

I have a K (18″ barrel model) and it’s a great rifle. Definitely a good sub for a real HK91.

I love the finish on these guns. They’re really nice. Some say they’re better than HK’s in a lot of cases.

Nobody noticed the jacked up 82nd patch on the “soldiers arm”? Not sure, but that also looks like a ABU boonie? Sorry, it’s one of my pet peev’s.

Heres’ hoping their STG 44 semi-auto repro doesn’t sell for $2500 like most of them do; I’d love to get one.

Nice video and great tune too. I have had several PTR’s over the years and have really enjoyed them. Sold them to get deep in to M1A’s but am considering picking up another one as I got hooked up with the Cheaper Than Dirt deal on mags a few years ago at a buck a piece – yes, a dollar. Have a few boxes of them and hey, what’s wrong with buying a gun because you have the mags for it?
