Captain America Busts In Shooting

I probably won’t ever watch this movie because frankly it looks the exact same as Spiderman, The Hulk, Daredevil, Iron Man etc… but I was surprised that Captain America was armed with a gun.  I don’t really remember the comics that vividly.. but I could have sworn he only usually threw his shield.

my thing is I don’t want to see the same actors in another comic book movie because you tie that actor to that character. He was already the Torch in Fantastic Four.
And that dumb lady at the end shooting the shield…I’d throw it at her to see if it really worked.

    1. …the shield…I’d throw it at her…

I can think of something else I’d like to throw at her… if you catch my drift

  2. Good. Sounds like Captain America to me. This movie isn’t called Captain France.

  3. In the very, very early Jack Kirby books, Cap (and Bucky) did indeed occasionally use guns. When we’d see a flashback to their WW2 days, the scene would invariably be in the middle of some “bad guys in every direction” dust-up, and ol’ Buck’d have a Thompson.

It wasn’t ’til the late eighties or early nineties that Cap was turned into the no-guns-no-how-not-never Captain Pureheart type. One storyline went so far as to have Cap forced to shoot a terrorist to keep him from killing hostages. Cue up the following eight or ten books hacing Cap wallowing in angst both for having “taken a life” and for becoming such a “bad example”- Cap runs across a group of kids, for example, who are playing with toy guns and pretending to be Cap himself.

For the movie, I’d expect the character to use a gun; after all, it’s WW-freaking-2, and Cap is, after all, part of the Super Soldier program.

    Doc.

Captain America most certainly DID use guns back in the day for smashin’ Nassis! Hell, lots of super heroes used to use guns before it became politically incorrect. Batman used to use guns occasionally, and if a motherfucker needed killin’, he wouldn’t hesitate to throw their ass right off of a building! Comic books used to be violent as hell, but then they adopted the whole comic code bullshit, and it all got to be lame as hell. Think about Westerns and serials intended for kids, like the Lone Ranger. Any guns in those? They ever shoot anybody? Did the Lone Ranger die EVERY SINGLE WEEK in the series? So yes, we’ve gotten too soft as a society, and I applaud a return to violence and patriotic themes in comic books.
