Top Douchebag – George Reinas

“I’m big, I’m mean. I’m going to destroy the competition.” This Air Force sniper has reason to be cocky–he’s good. Not only is he a certified military, civilian and SWAT sniper, he’s an instructor in all of them as well. George Reinas was the sniper team leader as well as the coach of last year’s winning sniper team at the AF Rodeo Competition. An obsessive weight lifter, he regularly benches 400-plus pounds and curls 200 pounds, barely breaking a sweat. A self-described Jersey Shore guy, he’s not afraid to tell it like it is.

172 of you voted on facebook, and George was the victor by a landslide with 144 votes. Ashley Spurlin was a distant second at 23 votes, followed by Brian, Chris, and Joe.

I’d feel bad giving this award someone that didn’t deserve it, but right up until the credits rolled on the final episode, George proved to all of us that he was the only logical choice.

Stay tuned for another Top Douchebag when they announce the cast of Season 3!

As much of a douche as he was for most of the competition, he definitely through that last match to his friends. And it looks like he did it simply because they could use the money more than he could. That’s pretty cool. I almost feel bad that I voted for him. I’d certainly want to be on his team going into harms way.l

Everyone that voted should feel bad, I bet there would only be 1% of people here and on the show that would have gave up the challenge over morality. If I would have voted the top douche would have been Jay or Travis both are total DOUCHES!!! TOTALLY!!! I mean come on I was the best shooter and pissed it off to drink with tards!!! or” I don’t have to prove anything”-”my grip works for me!!”

George is still a Douche someone of true character treats all people with the same respect and dignity, not just his little circle of friends. So he threw what should have been a best shooter competition, but he could has just as easily won and given the money away. Maybe he was afraid of loosing outright against Jamie or Jay, so he had to create a “Survivor” mentality in the house so he could get rid of his threats.
Good on Chris, but the views will never know who the Top Shot really was because of the popularity element in this seasons show.

Matthew K July 5, 2012 at 05:06 pm

Your description of George is sort of like Adam Benson. I bet Jamie could’ve truly won if not for being bullied so much. George was really good to win also. Survivor mentality, totally.

Every single one of those things points to him being a douchebag. He probably thinks women belong in the kitchen, which only adds to that.

Heck, he’s even making my gaydar go wee woo wee woo. Douchebag indeed.

Lets try and remember that what WE saw was what the producers wanted us to see. For all we really know they edited out all the times he was doing CPR on near-dead kittens, feeding the poor from his own plate and carrying 400lb elderly women across busy streets. The whole D-Bag all season then suddenly the redeemed brother in arms at the ends makes me believe Hollywood did our thinking for us once again. Besides I voted for Asshat, I mean Ashley.

Reply

I totally agree with you 100% about the editing and Ashley. In my opinion Ashley was the real douchebag! Especially after his totally inappropriate verbal assault on Jamie. That’s when his true colors emerged.

Gerge Reinas is no Rey… he’s the typical cocky, immature, conceited douche bag everyone knows at some point in life. He’s a true jerk, and I feel real sorry for whomever has to work with him and decides not to obey him or kiss his ass, cause that’s a true reason-in his mind to earn his hate.

Ashley Spurlin and George Reinas were two of the worst “representatives” of the U.S. Air Force on the show. Now, every viewer who has religiously followed season two of Top Shot will not only think…but believe that the entire Air Force is comprised of egocentric, wise-ass douchebags. These two “NCO’s” should be held accountable to their leadership for their unprofessional bearing on camera at the very least. Their continual bullying verbal attacks on fellow servicemember Jamie was definitely uncalled for, it was out of order, and the whole thing should have been squashed right there! I can’t wait to see season three’s characters. Hopefully, if there are any military in the next cast, they’ll act a hell of a lot more dignified.

Jay B May 6, 2011 at 09:37 am

I wasn’t aware that the Air Force had snipers. The Navy Seals and Coast Guard drug interdiction teams both utilize snipers. The Marines have their elite Scout Snipers and The Army has their elite “Bravo 4″ designees. When did the Air Force develop its own sniper program? Hope this is for real and not a myth.

Reply

The Dude May 9, 2011 at 11:19 am

I believe The Air Force CREATED A “Sniper” M.O.S. for this guy because 99.99% of the Military would NEVER want to work with him in a TEAM or UNIT, especially in COMBAT! He’d be too busy mothing off or doing his hair. Someone would FRAG his butt if he was deployed overseas.

I would never want to be within listening distance of him. I’m sure he SNIPES birds around RUNWAYS at Air Bases. Long Range “BIRD SNIPER” was his REAL MOS. He’s a “Sniper” with that BEEMAN .177 Caliber Pellet Rifle! Has a 4 Power Scope too! He may have shooting skills, but he definitely will die alone unless he marries a woman suffering from Mental Illness. God Bless the people that have to work or Interact with that “BAG”!

For what it’s worth, I was Georges first officer in a deployed location, and I can tell you that there is no finer example of a perfect airmen that I can point to than him. I have led hundreds of security forces airmen around the world in and out of combat in several different countries… George was a perfect follower, always taking the hard right over the easy wrong, a natural leader amongst his peers and a real team player. I wouldn’t hesitate to take him anywhere, anytime. I didn’t get to watch the show, but from what I am reading here, I can tell you that hollywood must have been pretty exclusive in the footage they showed to us. My 2 cents.

Sir,

I hope you got a chance to watch the show since you left this comment. While Hollywood may have had a hand in the image George shaped for himself, they didn’t do it alone by a long shot. He and the other Airman, Ashley left an embarrassing blemish on my Air Force. Guys like them are the ones making it easy for me to walk away after ten years.

Though considering that you’re supposed to be a college graduate and an Air Force officer, I find your poor spelling and grammar a little suspect.

You summed up George perfectly… “follower” because that kid could never be a “Leader” in my Air Force. We’ll then again “My Air Force” and Obama’s Air Force are two totally separate things so it doesn’t surprise me he fooled some gullible LT into believing he was a squared away troop. I am thinking anyone who led George only saw the bullshit he spewed to Senior NCO’s and young dumbass LT’s during post briefings and you don’t know the true bully that he was. He made me embarrassed that he was a Security Police member and he and Ashley combined made me afraid this is what the future of the Air Force NCO Corp looks like. With Leaders like those two jerks, the Air Force is truly in farked.

Ashley Spurlin and George Reinas showed exactly what the rest of the world believes Americans are “BAGS”! . As a retired disabled Vet., I’m ashamed of these two individuals for thier abhorrent behavior towards a fellow Veteran. The Airforce is seriously off the mark with thier troups if this the best they have to offer. When did “Narcissisism” become a prerequisite for AF NCO’s?

So watch the damn show. And no, it had nothing to do with editing. Reinas engaged in petty tribalism and politics and baseless insults in order to cast out non-military members (Jay), then a Navy servicemen (Jamie).

This was EXPLICIT and no amount of out-of-context editing could ameliorate George (and Ashley’s) utter douchebaggery. George had no desire to compete fairly; or if he did he still seemed overwhelmed by an innate douchebag desire to disparage non-military and Navy divers.

“A natural leader amongst his peers”. Maybe so, if they were all his specific speciality. Apparently and obviously, he’s an utter dick to whoever he doesn’t consider “his peers”.

And btw, even he is an innate dick, I expect servicepeople to behave with great distinction and magnanimity in civilian settings. George didn’t do any of that. He behaved like a damned high schooler. He is a disgrace to the service; any service.

Sorry…I just finished watching Season 2. I wanted to find out if I was the only one thinking George was an a**hole at it’ best. The entire last four was less than mild competitors. The show is about marksmanship but it turn out to be about friendship.
Jamie did great considering he was ousted by the clowns.

I think this “big man” stuck his tail between his legs and pissed a little at the though of facing the little man Jay on equal ground. It’s dishonorable that the sniper resorted to politics to take out the enemies. He didn’t even have the courage to face them himself. He keep sending others to the eliminations to face his foes. Arrogance is not honor and bullying is not courageous. In my opinion, your actions disgraced your uniform.

That George character… Who can say that he had any honor? Integrity?
-What he had going for him and his beloved MILITARY MEN –and what he appears to be–, was scheming little whelp with low intentions and zero integrity.

I do not judge all U.S. military men, only this lowly being.
-Those who know this…person, and claim that he has heart and honor… could do well and see his behaviour.

¤George forgot that it was about TOP SHOT, no buddy-buddy-cuddle-cuddle.

I thought the military is supposed to defend citizens, even though Jay wasn’t the nicest guy, George threw him under the bus. George is in the military not to defend a nation, he is in the the military because he likes to shoot stuff. If this is representative of the military, the armed forces just dropped into the toilet.

I think all of you forget that it is a show and some of those people say things because it is show. And how many of you would have done the same thing to make sure the person who needed the money more. He had enough balls not to let greed get in the way of being human and there is nothing wrong with that. And remember, people who live glass houses should not throw the the first stone and judge not lest you be judged in the same manner.

Reply

Raarroro July 18, 2013 at 03:36 am

Wow. Shut up with your excuses. I would not engage in petty tribalism at the onset (when of course I would have no idea who “needed money” would advance). This would be a shooting competition. That’s all I’d worry about. I wouldn’t try to seek a “Marine/Army” vs. “Civilian/Navy” paradigm or somesuch bullshit.

Maybe I have a bit too much respect for myself. Maybe I’d like to win a shooting competition just by shooting better than the rest. And judge me to the utmost–I’m a better man than George “douchebag” Reinas; at least as displayed in this competition.

Btw, “being human” would’ve been not forming reality show high school cliques to make the competition into sides rather than skill. He apparently didn’t have the balls to treat each competitor as equal.

I’m not sure if Americans realise just quite how badly they are perceived by the rest of the world? This isn’t a view I particularly supportor hold however I sorry to say that characters like Reinas & that complete twat Spurlin do nothing to help this image. For many, these two will epitomise Americans, The Amierican Way & American Attitude. They do nothing but bad for your country…… ironic when they both profess to be so patriotic and loyal to the flag. Being ex military I can honestly say, hand on heart, I am glad I never had to serve with pathetic idiots & bullies like those two.

To all of you who think George threw that round – There is no way in hell he threw it!!! Redeemed himself my a$$. He picked the biggest target at the closest range figuring they would both easily hit it. That would have left him still up by 1 with only one round to go. Smart tactical move except he CHOKED BIG TIME and missed it. I hated this prick throughout the whole show. I seriously wanted to see him fall from the crane. He’s a pretty good shot with that needle full of steroids though. So, NO, he didn’t throw anything for sadsack Chris. FAILBOAT is more accurate.
