Ghost Recon Future Soldier – Weapon Customization

This looks amazing:

Games are so crazy now.

I still haven’t jumped on the wii or kinect bandwagon.  All the games I’ve played so far for either I thought were incredibly lame. This ghost recon game might change my views though.

You can pre-order this game for October 30th delivery – HERE

I always thought that someday, the motion-sensing game systems like this would come out with realistic dummy objects so we wouldn’t have to use an air gun or an air guitar. Seems pretty lame right now to me, I’m not one for games that feel like a mime in a special effects studio.

  2. Great, you can customize your weapon. The problem is that it still follows the same customization concept that all games have. Stats go up and down based on arbitrary factors. It’s all math in the game world. You are rewarded customizable stuff for certain tasks, each one being “better” than the last. What you end up with is that players either need to use the newest and best customizable items to have an advantage, or the developers are forced to make the customization have so little effect that players will choose them based on appearance alone.

As for the controls, it looks really awful. What’s wrong with having any type of device, with a switch that relays the instant it is pressed? You know, kind of like a trigger? Look at his finger, he has to move his entire hand in some ridiculous motion to make it obvious enough for the camera to take it’s sweet time deciding if it should fire his weapon in the game. Awesome. Developers need to learn that gimmicks do not equalize gameplay. A bad game is bad no matter how you slice it. Stop wasting money on crap like this, and spend more money on programming and design and physics and penetration, and finally, do some research on how weapons function. Stop showing me cool animations that are unrealistic.

Amen to your first paragraph, Ed. Well said.

Or the developers make it so that different parts make the gun good in different think, just like it seems to work here, so that the players will choose based on what they need for a given mission.
Sad this isn’t coming out on PC, this demo actually got me interested in the game.

This is just Army of two: the 40th day all over again, plus obligatory Tom clancey BS thrown in.

All these new controller-less consoles scare me :C

  4. I’m sorry, was that a rail mounted taser?

Parasite eve 2 did it first. The Hammer. It stuns big monsters, and cooks the little ones :3

The kinect crap is only used for the weapons configurator thingy. The actual game is played with a controller.

  6. Why can’t they come up with a game where you play it normally like on a controller, then uses Kinect for things like squad hand gestures or something?

    1. Because any game in which you can do that would necessarily be run with a controller, which means kinect wouldn’t be ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to play it. Which means it wouldn’t sell more kinects.

        Exactly.

  7. Whatever happened to the light gun? And I’m not talking a crappy afterthought attachment to a Wiimote/PS Move that’s akin to firing from the hip using a laser pointer. I’m talking about the arcade style light guns that you calibrate to your TV – Point and shoot naturally with the, “shots,” coming from the, “barrel.”

That died with the wii D:

Now it’s all about “Here use this dildo controller and wave it around like a fairy wand to do everything”.
