Put Your Deceased Family Member Into Ammo

Their ashes that is…

We offer a way to honor your deceased loved one by giving or sharing with him or her one more round of clay targets, one last bird hunt, or one last stalk hunt.

Once the caliber, gauge and other ammunition parameters have been selected, we will ask you (by way of your funeral service provider) to send approximately one pound of the decedents ash to us. Upon receiving the ashes our professional and reverent staff will place a measured portion of ash into each shotshell or cartridge.

Our prices start at $1250.00 for 250 rounds (one case) of high quality, hand loaded leadshot shotshells in gauges .410, 28ga., 20ga., 16ga., 12ga. and 10ga. Other specialty loads such as migratory bird loads like bizmuth or steel, slugs and buckshot are the standard cost of $1250.00 per case plus the current market cost for specialty loads.

That’s quite the markup.   If you had the reloading equipment you could just do it yourself as part of the grieving process.

Normally I try to talk about funny stuff, but people have been relentlessly emailing me this for the past couple months.

What do you guys think of the idea?

Awwww this is a great idea. The price is outrageous, but i could see doing this if the deceased was a military man or a gun enthusiast. It’d be like hunting with grandpa one last time, minus grandpa.

And i never thought you could human remains into ammo as filler. I wonder what you would have if you did it with chuck norris :D

How is this in anyway a good idea. I am the only who thinks loading grandma into shot shell for skeet shooting is a little out there. I mean really tell the conversation would not sound like this.

Me: Hey I read about this website that will load Grandma into shot shell for skeet shooting…sounds great huh?
    Relative #1: Are you high?
Relative #2: Is this because you were written out of the will?
Relative #3: UMMMMMMMMMMM WTF!!!!!…I told you the Army would screw your head.

That’s probably the nice version, but that is about how I would see that conversation going. Now if you offered to load the ex-wife in to some of those I would be the first in line.

  3. People are all about doing weird crap to honor dead people. I don’t understand it. The dead person does not in any way care. I hope when I die that it is first off, an awesome way to die (I don’t want to “pass away” I want to DIE), and most importantly, that whoever disposes of my body doesn’t waste time and resources dealing with it. I am not going to need it again, let the animals have it for all I care. They can use it. Get on with your life and stop all this emotional masturbation of “grieving” over death.

      Emotional Masturbation. Jus’ sayin.

      1. Well, that’s all it is. People do it because it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Then why do animals do it? I dont imagine they do it because it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy inside. And animals DO mourn losses.

Still. Emotional Masturbation. You said masturbation :D

  4. I mean, it’s not really what I would do or want, but I get it. I have some concerns about the practicalities of it, though. Are the ashes to get mixed in with the lead, here? That might explain the cost — you have to melt lead for a small batch, keep it separate, possibly jacket it, etc.

Almost anything else is gonna make for kind of a nasty mess. Mixed in with the powder, I guess you will have to assume your loved one is going to be happy about being dissolved with Hoppe’s #9? Also, I’d be cautious about using “powder” like that in any kind of semi-auto!

Now, this wouldn’t apply to rifles, but for shotshells I could see using the ashes for the filler in the shot cup. Gonna make for one funny-looking turkey but it would work.

  5. “[P]rofessional and reverent staff[…]” How many companies say that at all!? I’m sure we can trust them…

If I were to do this, it would only be with auto-loading shotguns.

    1. My first response when I read that part was “SEEMS LEGIT.” Overall it’s an interesting idea, but I’m fairly certain there are some in my family would give me funny looks for the rest of my life if I EVER brought this up.

  6. This was something from the series JPOD years ago. They called it “Chuck Shot.” Each year they would take a shell loaded with the remains of the grandfather and go out back and fire a shot in his memory. I am surprised it has taken this long for someone to actually try to make money with it.

Not saying this is the first reference, but a very recognizable reference.

  7. Sounds pretty kool i guess. I just hope that they are not going to try and rip people off like that crematory in Florida did.

  8. That is quite the markup. But it solidifies my belief in the old saying, “A fool and his money are soon parted.”

You wouldn’t like to go into some 10 ga and used in a roadblocker to protect the family when ya pass on grandpa? D:

      1. I’m leaving this as an acknowledgment that I saw your comment. And I’ll leave it at that…

I’ll take that as a yes. You’s goin in the Roadblocker. :D

  9. they say that you can go hunting one last time…why would you go hunting with that ammunition? would you really want to eat an animal you killed with your dead relatives ashes sprinkled about?
