Shotgun To Chop Down Christmas Tree

Because axes are for countries that don’t have gun rights:

This really does work well.  I poke fun at a lot of people on here, but Hickok45 is basically joke-proof… that guy is awesome.

Anyone get their tree this year using the above method?

  1. I have done that with a 12ga before and once I was able to harvest a tree maybe just a bit smaller than that with my S&W 19-3

  2. I was considering picking up one a Mossberg 590 to fill the void in my life that only a Trench Gun can fill. I then learned that it won’t mount the M10 bayonet satisfactorily. The void remains.

There will always be a shotgun out there, just be patient!

And fuck yeah hickok45, showing the rest of the world how that shit is done.

I’ve cut firewood with my Nova tacticool. I’ve also cleared space for a range using my MN 91/30 and some Yugoslav “heavy ball” 170-something grain steel core. FYI, the cheap 147gr steel core stuff works just the same. I expect that one day Al Gore will show up on my doorstep and kick me in the balls for killing trees. TREES HAVE RIGHTS! TREES ARE PEOPLE TOO!!!

  4. That’s a Charlie Brown Christmas tree… weak.

  5. he might be joke proof… but he is not oh face proof… mike you know what needs to be done ;)

haha yea I should have looked for a funnier screenshot of his face.

  6. My grandpa used to get a tree this way every year, but he’d shoot the top of a huge tree. They always had the best shape. Ah, conservation.

  7. A bayonette on a shotgun?

  8. Ha ha. I used to cut trees down with a shotgun. If it’s over 4 inches or so you have to reload

  9. Awesome! Gotta love Hickok45!

  10. That tree is a little small.

This tree I shot down is a little more substantial:

Note the halves of targets on the top of the stump and the trunk on the ground. This tree was used for firewood, so I’m guessing my relative (who owns the land I’m standing on in that pic) found some lead in his wood stove. :D

ahhaha nice work James! And with a Steyr AUG no less!

How many rounds did that take?

      1. Probably no more than 60-80. Could have done it with less, but we didn’t actually try to shoot it down until I noticed that most of the middle was gone.

  11. Did this yesterday with a .22, I thought i was the only one who did stuff like that for fun
