Artsy French Taxi Driver Movie Summary

With coloring pencils and paint used for the main effects:

The guy that plays the main part in this is director/write/producer Michel Gondry.

Would have been slightly cooler if it wasn’t in French.  It still wouldn’t hold a candle to the original Taxi Driver.  At only $3 to rent, or $14 to buy on Blu-ray do yourself a favor and watch it if you haven’t already.

I’m convinced that the more obscure people sometimes make something, the more attention it will get for that reason alone.  “OMG he used coloring pencils and PAINT instead of cartridges and blood?!  Revolutionary!”

Thoughts?

  1. LOL! Whats with the gun on a stick? I dont recall his hand getting blown off either.

The gun on the stick is supposed to represent that gun that he rigged under his coat to come out on a slider on his forearm. The hand I don’t remember blowing up… De Niro does have blood all over his hand at the end of the movie though when he makes a gun shape with it and puts it to his head (in the iconic picture you see everywhere)

      1. The main character’s hand isn’t blown off in the movie.
Blowing his hand off only to bring it back is messed up (i.e. continuity failure).

        I’m not impressed.
The omission of the Wizard and woman De Niro pursues aren’t even presented in this film short. It makes sense that the French would omit the work out scene.

  2. I have to watch that movie again. Its been a loooooong time.

  3. Michel Gondry is a freaking film genius, especially when it comes to practical effects. Huge inspiration for me when I was learning how to make movies. Go watch the Foo Fighters “Everlong” music video. He directed that as well back in the 90’s.

  4. This would be a great movie… If the viewer was EXTREMELY high.
