Glock: The Rise Of America’s Gun – Giveaway Complete

11 Days, 11 copies of Paul Barrett’s book Glock: The Rise Of America’s Gun were given away.

One of my goals for 2012 is to try and give back more to you blog visitors.  I’m really glad to have had the opportunity to work with Paul Barrett, the author of the book, and Random House to run this giveaway.  At 345 total entries, your odds of winning were pretty good.

I will be forwarding all the addresses for mailing as soon as I get a reply from the latest winner.  I’ve got my copy of the book sitting next to me, and I can hardly wait to read it.

If you were not one of the lucky 11, you can always pick it up on Amazon.

Thanks a lot for entering, and you can expect more giveaways/contests coming up!

Good to hear, I’m looking forward to reading it!

  3. even though I didn’t win thanks for high lighting the book, I blogged about you contest and even got an email from the authors wife with a link to their Amazon site and his video…what I think is kind of unique about this book is it is not really written by a “gunnie” at all…going to order through Amazon today or tomorrow..like the format of the contest.

Thanks for the post Huey! Glad to hear you (and others) liked the format of the contest. I for one hate contests where you have to jump through a lot of hoops, so I was trying to avoid that.

  4. Thanks again for the generosity. Im sure to enjoy the book, and winning stuff kicks ass. Lucky 140!!

  5. Ya know… Every time I see an advertisement for this book, I find myself a little amused at Barrett’s presumption. There are two Colts, a Smith & Wesson, and Winchester that have earlier (and probably better) claims on that title.

Or as Larry Vickers said, “GIs carrying 1911s defeated Axis forces, including Austrians. The 1911 was winning battles and saving lives before Gaston Glock was even born – somewhere along the way we probably figured out a thing or two on combat handguns.”

I agree with this. Sometime along the line, there will be a new gun that will be marketed to LEOs and have political backing by many people to eventually replace the GLOCK.

I was one of the lucky winners and I appreciate you giving us the chance. I can’t wait to read it.

  7. i <3 my combat tupperware.

  8. What a great book I finished it awhile (last Friday) and forgot to talk about it.
The author obviously not a gun guy still gives the firearm industry a somewhat biased look, outside of him stating that he sees no reason why anyone needs more than 10 round magazines.

The book covers a lot of ground, albeit not very well at times, and I was happy Barrett discussed Glock’s involvement with procurement of arms and hi-cap magazines for resale during the AWB (1994-2004).

After reading the about the GLOCKs’ (Glock himself and his company) dubious actions I’ve come to the conclusion that I may never buy a Glock pistol, even though I’d like to have 33 round magazines…

I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning about what someone, who isn’t involved in the firearm world or industry, would say when they research this kind of topic.
