Superbowl XLVI Snipers

Hired by the New York Giants to secure a win:

The plan worked.  <— That was my attempt at a football joke.

If you want to see some footage from a different stadium with different snipers make sure to check out the Stadium Snipers post from a while back.

I bet those guys get paid a lot.  Even though the chances of ever having to take a shot are extremely low, the stress level would be through the roof with that many people everywhere.

I wonder if they are scanning the crowd the whole time with binoculars?  Maybe they are looking through the rifle and keeping their eye on certain individuals relayed to them by support on the ground?

A video about security at this year’s superbowl:

So security (including F-18s) cost over 10 million dollars by that one guys estimate?  Big deal, considering they’re charging $3.5M for a 30 second tv commercial.  Plus you can imagine all the money they make off tickets, food/drinks, souvenirs etc..?

Maybe they are looking through the rifle…

When combined with Rule 2, that is an… interesting… thought.

I’m torn on this matter. I can honestly see why having people in place to take out threats is very necessary. And the Super Bowl must be a huge temptation for someone trying to make a point. But I can’t help but feel it’s a little “Big Brother is watching you”. Do I think their going to shoot an unruly fan? No. But the whole idea makes me uncomfortable.

Yeah.

Here’s a scenario for you:

The sniper is a fan of one team. He shoots the ball mid pass, when the other quarterback throws it.

Profit??

If he can hit the ball mid pass from up there, he deserves the profit.

Check Wes Welker’s helmet for gunshot evidence. I think the Giant’s sniper might have winged him just enough to drop the ball. Yeah, that’s what happened.

GO TECH!
