The pistol had been stolen years ago (early 90′s), it was returned – via LAPD (whodathunk?) – dirty, rusted, pitted, and in miserable shape.
While the SOB didn’t ever commit a crime with it (which would have led to it’s destruction), they also didn’t clean it. While it still shoots and functions, it bears the scars of years of neglect. No pistol should be treated as it was, and that’s why you clean – every time and once a year if unused.
