Run For Your Lives – Zombie 5K

An epic five Kilometer obstacle course where you have to stay alive by avoiding zombies:

Basic Survival:

  • Before the race, you will be given a flag belt, just like the overly intimidating game of flag football. These flags represent your health.
  • The zombies want to take your flags and maybe eat your brains.
  • If you lose all your health flags, you die. And the zombies win.
  • Health bonuses will be hidden throughout the course. If you find one and carry it to the finish, it will save your life.

That looks so intense.  If I could do that on a daily basis, it would definitely take the monotony out of running. I wonder how aggressive the Zombies are?

Thoughts?  Have any of you guys done this?

Ah HELL this is awesome! They have it in Austin too!

  2. I did this in Atlanta on March 31st. The CDC and the black guy from the walking dead was there. It was a really fun time and I got to be a zombie as well. The people running the event were really nice and have their stuff together. There were bands, free, food, the whole nine yards.

how aggressive were you as the zombie? looking at the video it looks like the walking dead swarm.. good thing it wasn’t those 28 days/weeks later zombies, which could sprint

  3. Most of that video is actually from the Atlanta run. Also, there were no “health bonuses” there. False hope? I think it was.

  4. Waiting for it to come to Vegas.

  5. that looks so cool lol

  6. I have done it as a Zombie while the wife ran it. I was a running zombie but they also have shamblers and they do your make up quite nicely.

Did any zombie’s get stiff armed in the face? It’s a cool idea but I think the tough mudder is better.

  8. I want to play this asap! Actually, I want to play one of the zombies.

    Big Yawn.

If I , as a member of P.U.T.Z. cannot do any zombie KILLING, I’m not interested.
I would be much more enthusiastic about going to New Orleans sometime this summer for the new style “Running of the Bulls” event.

Apparently, the registered runners are NOT chased by actual bulls, it seems. Instead, they are pursued by members of the local ladies’ flat track rollerderby team, on roller skates, of course.
The ladies wear big bull horns on their helmets. And, they carry big plastic and/or foam baseball bats.
Which these ladies apparently wield with gleeful delight and murderous enthusiasm.
An associate of mine, who requests anonymity, and claims to have borne witness to this mayhem, reports that the more intoxicated you are, the more fun you have. Also, fools who lay hands on the “bulls” tend to end up leaving the event in an ambulance.
I really, REALLY want to see this!

    Additional info:

The Encierro (“Bull Run”) is scheduled for 8 AM local time on Saturday, July 14th, 2012.
Buddy reports that they are expecting over 10,000 runners and over 400 “Bulls”.
Sorry, but the ‘Run For Your Lives Zombie 5K’ is looking just a little bit lame at this point……

  12. What would probably be neat in this vein is an “armed” version with airsoft or paintball guns. Limit on number of rounds. The zombies would have a “full helmet” and goggles. Head shots are killers. The zombies have paint soaked foam knives. So many hand prints or knife marks kill you. So the lone runner has an equal chance to the group that tries to do it.

  13. AWESOME !

Best game ever, I gotta try to organize something like this ! I don’t know if I’d be more interested in being a runner or a zombie though…

  14. That’s awesome. I need to get off my ass and do something like that haha. I would probably feel the need to beat the life out of the zombies though. Zombie Apocalypse is serious business.

I saw an ad for that in MN.
I just have to say, God damn am I tired of Zombies.
I mean, it was fun when every form of media wasn’t completely drowning in zombies, but now it’s just stale and boring.

Zombies are not yet protected by the naacp so they will be around for a while yet. When you have to put up with cowboys and aliens youre just plain screwed.
