Can’t Shoot Armed Robbers In Canada So You Gotta Do Something Else

Full story – HERE

Bear spray, pulling down the robbers pants, giving him kidney shots, and the store owners wife kicking him in the head seemed to work.  Personally i’d rather see robbers dead, but maybe I’m just cold?

I applaud those two.  Stuff like this always worries me when it’s so highly publicized though…. doesn’t anyone worry about retaliation?

Thoughts?

  1. Huh. In Ottawa, no less, which is just like D.C. when it comes to the right of self-defence.

Good for them. Maybe a few more incidents like this, and Canadians will wonder why they don’t have guns when all the bad guys seem to have them.

rule #1: Don’t fuck with asians. They have 4 lethal weapons, one on each limb.

After they pants and spanked that guy they should have shoved the can of bear spray up his ass and given him an extra spicy enema.

Canadian bear spray is very weak, (1%) its best to get some in the us and sneak it back.

“Despite their actions, Gatineau police warn all store owners not to take the law into their own hands and listen to the demands of thieves.” ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Canada just hit my shitlist.

No, he’s not kidding you. It’s practically illegal to defend yourself in Canada. There was a story from Toronto about a man who came home to see a home invasion in progress. He grabbed a baseball bat and took a swing at the guy. I don’t remember if he hit the robber or not, but the crook ran off, then turned around and successfully pressed assault charges against the man.

Or, also out of Toronto, a scrap yard owner kept having his yard broken into. So he sat out back with a baseball bat, waited for the teens to arrive, and chased them off with the bat. I don’t think he hit any of them but was still charged for assault.

So yeah, chances are these shop owners are going to get charged for defending their store and their lives.
I love my country most times, but absolutely hate the prevailing bleeding-heart liberal ideas that exist everywhere (this is coming from a moderate liberal) that mean our gun laws get wrecked and we have no right for self defence.

      1. That reminds me of stories I hear popping up in the UK – one being about banning barbed wire because they pose hazards that could injure poor thieves and trespassers. And all those ‘civilized’ people world-wide wonder why people like us are so rabid to defend out gun rights…

  4. Australia and Canada are now deeper on my “No way in hell will I go there.” list.

  5. These store owners excluded…Canada should be widely known as our sissified neighbor to the north.

They may be tough on an ice skating rink but their balls come off with their skates. Surely if the populous had any balls they wouldn’t have such neutered laws.

    1. Don’t mistake the actions and attitudes of people in Quebec and central Ontario for the rest of Canada.

You wouldn’t want to say that Texas has the same attitude towards self-defence as DC does, would you?

The cops in Alberta or Saskatchewan have a distinctly different opinion on the self-protection than the Liberal (with a capital “L”) hells of Ontario.

        Wouldn’t murder be tried federally?

The Criminal Code of Canada is a federal statue and essentially all crimes are covered under it. Self defence is allowed on a balanced basis, such as fists and fists or knives and knives, but firearms are never allowed even if they are being used against you. The difference between an indictable (federal) and summary (provincial) offence is the maximum penalty for a summary offence is 6 months or a $5000 fine. He is right about the different political landscapes, people would scream bloody murder if they saw a gun in Ontario but they may ask where you got in in Alberta.

i just took the time to read the criminal code, and wow, just wow. You actually cant do anything …

Yeah it really sucks up here. If you come home and find your family tied up and someone in your house the correct, polite, Canadian thing to do is to make them a sandwich while they decide whether they are going to rape your spouse or daughter first. BUT ONLY, after you have checked with them to make sure they don’t have any food allergy’s, or you will be in big trouble.
The Rarely Competent Mediocre Police force will like to be informed once they have left, so that there’s no actual chance of them having a confrontation with the bad guys.
And you certainly cant defend property.
But what else would you expect from wishy washy Canada, the land of compromise.

It is an absolute joke what happens to you if you even attempt to defend yourself or your property here. The official idea is that your firearms should be locked up enough that the police should be able to arrive before you are able to retrieve it as well as your ammunition which is supposed to be stored in a separate location. Personally I would not hesitate to take the like 10 seconds to unlock a gun and load it in order to defend myself and I would deal with the possible jail and legal fees, my only concern is the fact that I would not be allowed to own firearms for possibly the rest of my life.

almost 20 years ago i had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of Canadians and Aussies at the law enforcement olympics. one Canuk police shared several beers with me and let on that if a cop in America’s Hat Land even so much as drew his pistol in any sort of confrontation his carrer was essentially over. i wondered if this was even if he didn’t point it at anyone. yup says he, if you just break leather you will never get another good assignment or promotion again and may even be charged.

pointing to the package store down the street i asked, what if there was a robbery going down and you responded, what do you do? he said, call in back up, set a perimeter and wait for the psychologist. the psych is to talk the robber out no matter how long it takes and no matter who gets hurt.

he asks what we do. i tell him if i respond to such a thing and have to pull the trigger then i get a medal. i don’t think he really believed me.

i believe that, i read somewhere canadian customs/border patrol or whatever they call themselves have to fill out all sorts of paperwork if they break leather.

      1. Russell Avatar

It’s true, there is a full report system if they even undo the button on their holster. Most officers I know have only even drawn their pistols a handful of times through years of service and that is usually only to kill an animal. Even then they sometimes request a citizen does it so they don’t have to fill out the paperwork.

they probably have to carry in condition butterscotch too… :)
STOP!.. I have all the means on my person to assemble and use a firearm!!!…ARRET! (whatever the rest is in froggie speak)

  11. One cheaper alternative to bear spray, especially if it is weak in Canada…. wasp/hornet spray. You can aim it twenty feet and you are going to wish it had not just flooded your eyes, nose and mouth.
