Michael Bloomberg On Stronger Gun Laws

The man speaks from his ivory tower surrounded by armed guards:

I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re going to go on strike, we’re not going to protect you unless you the public, through your legislature do what’s require to keep us safe. -Michael Bloomberg

For a second there I was hoping Bloomberg came to his senses and was going to finish his sentence with “Unless you the public learn how to protect yourselves”.  That would have made more sense…

Thoughts?

So… Bloomberg wants to take away guns, that people use to protect people, and the way it should be done is cops refuse to protect people? So he just wants everyone to be unprotected while all the evil nasty “assault weapons” he wants to ban are on the streets?
What? Get your shit straight, Bloomberg. God.

It always amazes me how people with a Jewish heritage can support any kind
of gun control at all and trust any government after what happened to the Jews
in Germany and Europe during WW2. At least there is JPFO.org.

      True.

  3. I will give a damn what Bloomberg has to say about firearms as soon as he gives up his protective detail.

  4. Can you imagine the amount of crime that would occur if the police all went on strike at once? How many people would be killed?

    1. That was my fist thought.

Mr. Mayor, Never once in my entire life have I ever needed a cop to “serve and protect” me. The only thing they have ever served me with is harrassment. So I support this, and hopefully they won’t come back. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to protect myself.

  8. Bloomberg is disgusting. He’s a delusional moron who has done not a whole lot of good for NYC during his tenure as mayor. He’s an apologist and a hopliphobe. He disagrees with people being able to defend themselves, then ACTIVELY SAYS COPS SHOULD STRIKE? Someone, please, gag this man and throw him in an asylum. He is clearly not intelligent or prescient enough for public office.

So cops should just stop doing their jobs and basically say “F you” to the public until we push for more gun control? Bravo, like nothing will go wrong with that idea.

  10. I like how he went on about armor piercing bullets. The only reason to have armor piercing bullets is to go through bullet resistant vests, and the only people that wear bullet resistant vests are police….. but wait…. didn’t this shooter have a vest on too….. oh, and what about the bank robbers back in California….. oh… I remember in a Sams Club in Detroit seeing vests for sale to the public. (argument meltdown)

  11. Police are not liable for our protection anyways. Multiple cases have went to the Supreme Court and have failed.

      ^^This…

I know many of them try and would like to be their to save the day, but when I comes to this demagoguery its really distasteful given the fact they’re expressly exempt from any liability for our safety.

Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer’s life if necessary. Plummer v. State, 136 Ind. 306.
This premise was upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States in the case: John Bad Elk v. U.S., 177 U.S. 529

How is a citizen supposed to protect themselves from LE who carries pistols and with high capacity mags if Bloomturd gets his way?

Can we vote this dude off our continent….

  14. I propose a compromise. Have Bloomberg’s personal protection detail, and all police within a 5 mile radius of wherever Bloomberg is, take the strike he recommends. Make it so there are no police allowed within 5 miles of him. Let him live with the nearest protection 5 miles away.

  15. I would love for the police to go on strike. I could finally drive down the highway at a reasonable speed. And more importantly, it would show how important the 2nd amendment really is when people have to be responsible for themselves.

I do not understand why this asshat is getting a second of air time. A shooting in Colorado has nothing to do with NYC. Bloomberg needs to shut his mouth, and stay on his communist island utopia. Since when is it the responsibility of the public to protect the police? Since when do we work for them? Being a cop is a job with assumed risks, if you can’t accept that don’t wear the badge. I’m sure as hell won’t give up my right to self defense, there isn’t a cop within ten miles of my place; fuck Bloomberg.

Bloomberg: Proving that money can’t buy intelligence since 1942.

  17. The FAIL is strong with this one. Sadly, there’s going to be a hundred or two folks out there who were on the fence, are emotionally attached to the soap opera being fed to them from the Colorado killings, and take up arms against…arms. This d-bag has done some damage with this broadcast regardless of the credibility (lack thereof) or complete lack of logic and sanity in his ramblings. He and Carolyn McCarthy need to take a long walk off a short pier…and then be air dropped into some random urban environment in the top 10 most crime riddled cities…without a security detail and with big signs on them saying “Unarmed and loaded with jewelry and cash!”

Police Officers protect you? This isn’t fucking Minority Report, they don’t know what’s going to happen before it does. My store has been robbed with police IN THE PARKING LOT, what candy land world does this asshole live in?

  19. All throughout history the first thing tyrants do is to disarm the populace. This makes sense for the tyrants because an unarmed populace is easy to subdue/enslave. It never makes sense for those at risk of being subdued/enslaved. Then again, how can we expect a billionaire to understand how things work in the real world. Hulk angry.

  20. I did some googling a few days ago and firearm deaths are the highest cause of death in the line of duty for LEO. But that number is somewhere around 511 firearm deaths total since 2001 among the about 750,000+ LEOs out there. The percentage is around 0.0006%. That is getting into statistical anomaly range.

I didn’t look at the survivor numbers because I couldn’t find them.

Ninety-eight percent of the job of 9-1-1 response is to clean up the mess left by others. Have you ever noticed that the nightly news only rarely pulls the 9-1-1 tapes because most of the calls are “I came home and someone had robbed me.” or “My car was stolen”. The active “He’s kicking in the door” is actually rare.

    Bloomberg is an ass.

    1. ^^ This. And the sooner the populace changes their mindset that the police are there to prevent crime or protect you against crime, the better. They are janitors who write reports. Flava flav is right, 911 is a joke, yo.

    2. More like “hello 911 how can I help you” , “yea there is a dead body on the floor can you send the police”
