Glock Pocket Lint Torture Test

Mattv2099 with a little something for the lint haters:

Whether it be pocket carry, or regular carry some people think a bit of lint will render their semi-auto useless.  I think it’s safe to say that the amount of lint you’d ever get in your gun from regular carrying wouldn’t be an issue.

Glock-Lint-Torture-TestFunny how the mag kept coming out… maybe he was hitting the release with those bulky gloves though?

I think Matt summed it up best at the end of the video with: “so…. whatever.”

Thoughts?

  1. Mecchanix gloves, bulky? No, no, no sir, Mechanix gloves are the gloves of operators.

  2. Excellent. Lint as a bore obstruction is more likely but again, most people don’t empty their dryer lint catcher into their pockets.

  3. This is good news for those who forget to take their gun out of their jeans and accidentally put it in the laundry

Next test is the James Yeager too much lube test. He’s said numerous times that overlubing a glock is the main reason glocks are sent back or something like that! I’ll have to go find the vids so I can quote him correctly. Thanks endo!

I think the issue is overlubing and then getting it dirty. Always a pleasure Matt. Keep bringing that gun video heat and I’ll keep posting.

yeah, and I’m going to clarify that. I’m going to overlube a perfectly clean Glock (in an extreme fashion). It’s definitely an issue of overlubing and improper maintenance over a period of time. In particular, LEO aren’t supposed to take their slides down. The certified Armorer is only allowed to do that. So if an officer keeps overlubing that firing pin can start collecting a combination of lube and carbon which will turn into a nasty crud and fowl the pin so bad it won’t fire. So I’m going to see if I can fowl the pin by overlubing and shooting a couple hundred rounds! lol. should be fun. We’ll see what happens :)

We had a Glock stop – kind of – when a shooter chose to use “squirt some lube and leave it” as his cleaning regimen.

The pistol would fail to fire several times per magazine, due to the clogging of grease and carbon in the mechanism that prevented the striker from hitting hard enough (or at all).

Of course it did take two years of shooting an IPSC match weekly before there was a problem.

I wish you had used real lint instead of whatever it was you obviously shook out of Dianne Feinstein’s hair brush.

  7. lint could get up into the glock like that if you used carry condition: butterscotch. I’ll be keeping that in mind.
