Scumbag Cheaper Than Dirt Tries To Buy Their Way Back Into Our Hearts

Fuck Cheaper Than Dirt for thinking this would work:

Scumbag-Cheaper-Than-Dirt-SAF-Donation

Full Press Release – SAF

*gasp* On Valentine’s Day too  >.<

Yeah $100k is a great amount to donate and everything *slow clap* but if I was running the Second Amendment Foundation I would have wiped my ass with that check and posted a pic on facebook instead.

A month and a half ago they were selling G.I. AR-15 magazines for $100, when wholesale cost on those is under $10, and even before that they crumbled to the pressure from the Newtown incident and shit on their customers by stopping online firearm sales.  Oh wait, the y realized that was a bad business move so they put their tail between their legs and started selling guns again shortly after… that makes it OK right?

Scumbag-Cheaper-Than-DirtI’ll say it again… Fuck Cheaper Than Dirt.  If I had more money, I’d donate $200k to the SAF on the condition they told Cheaper Than Dirt that their scumbag money wasn’t good there.

Has CTD pulled their ads off here yet?  I refreshed a few times and didn’t see any.

Thoughts?  Any of you forget about their scumbag actions already, before I reminded you?

I see the adds all the time, I always thought it was pretty “ironic” that they showed up on here continuously after the obvious disgust for price gouging and CTD.

Ads even, its usually the top center ad that cycles between front sight post brownells, CTD and others.

Ha! Yea I actually just saw one about donating to the NRA from them on here.

    FUCK CTD!

  3. I just got an email from them saying they also will not sell to governments with restrictive gun laws “just like Olympic Arms and LaRue Tactical.” Here’s the copy/paste:

    “Cheaper Than Dirt Supports Citizens’
    2nd Amendment Rights

Recently companies such as LaRue Tactical and Olympic Arms announced they will no longer sell prohibited items to government agencies and personnel in states denying civilians to own those same items. It has been and will continue to be Cheaper Than Dirt’s policy not to sell prohibited items to government agencies and agents in states, counties, cities and municipalities that have enacted restrictive gun control laws against their citizens. We support and encourage other companies that share in this sentiment.”

    1. Empty rhetoric. You think any police department, etc. buys from CTD? That’s like a florist saying they won’t sell to government agencies. So what?

I’m still not paying $0.90 a round for FMJ 5.56.. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN..

  4. There are a whole bunch of people who have gouged the American gun public, including some ‘trainers’ who sell products on their websites

    http://aroundotown.blogspot.com/2013/02/screw-all-you-people-who.html

  5. We haven’t forgot. I was talking with a buddy the other day and he said ctd was the only place be could find a certain item still.im stock but he wouldn’t buy it from them. The gun community isn’t one you want to burn. We are a vengeful group.

  6. Let me se a press release stating that the corporate clown whose idea it was to side with the gun grabbers against their customer base has been fired… and I’ll buy from CTD. Until then, this is just window dressing.

    1. GST has been thinking about this. Not trying to give anyone a free pass on gouging the desperate, but let’s examine this from another perspective.

If CTD can demonstrate that the excess profits they made were the sum of what they donated to SAF, then maybe there is a little room here, and a serious lesson learned for them. I don’t know if I would personally do business with them again, but maybe this should be evaluated.

      1. Nah. Money is easy. Unemployment is hard. Your way, the clown (s) who made the call in the first place are still in the boardroom, ready and willing to sell out again the very next time an opportunity arises- and knowing that if things turn sour they can just buy their way out of it again.. My way, there’s one fewer of them and the rest get The Fear.

  7. Back in 2008, they released a memo saying that they were price gouging because of “market forces” or something. Guess what– MidwayUSA, Brownells, Rainier Arms, Palmetto State Armory, etc. etc. did NOT jack up prices to take advantage of the hysteria. I guess those businesses must not be subject to the same “market forces”, even though they all sell essentially the same products to essentially the same market.

    CTD can fuck off.

  8. While we are at it, maybe we should be examining the motives of the ‘big box’ gun and ammo suppliers as well:

    http://aroundotown.blogspot.com/2013/02/remember-that-meeting-with-gun-grabbers.html

  9. CTD wobbled badly but they did the right thing in the end. Dropping F bombs on them is an asinine, adolescent, and counter productive to motivating them to behave better. As to prices, let the free market settle that. When I see such blatantly rude crude conduct by gun people it doesn’t surprise me that others want to disarm us. Shame.

    1. This is not an example of market pricing, this is just plain gouging. Gouging in and of itself isn’t the crime here, especially for individuals making the decision to do so. It’s bad when it’s the outlets we rely on and believe are the 2A supporting gun industry, especially when they react in the worst ways possible like CTD did to their customers out of irrational fear early on, then again, then again by buying their way back into favor. It’s true, the jackwagon who decided to stop selling firearms within a week of Sandy Hook needs to go or whoever facilitated that decision. We’re in an age of boycotting and standing behind your product, thick or thin. Concealing such shameful practices in this age of witch hunting and standing for something as a retailer, is obviously not getting past the masses, me included.
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk103/lronchef/ctd_zpsab9073af.jpg <– Today's grossly inflated prices for 30 round mags. Notice how they're all in stock, and have been for weeks now? That should be a sign to them that they're being boycotted, yet they don't care…they throw money at the 2A foundation to win us stupid consumers back? I don't think so.

      1. My point is that gouging prices will take their toll and CTD will either get in line or fail. But ragging on them is scarcely the way to encourage them to do better. And I do wonder how much any of the folks who belittle a 100k donation to the fight have themselves donated–or if they’ve lifted a finger to write letters, email, or call their representatives. I would bet the more vile the tirade, the less real contribution to defending our rights.

        1. Actually, ragging on them is precisely the way to encourage them to do better. Go to AR15.com in the industry section and then go to the CTD forum where there is actually a CTD employee who frequents that flame filled forum where people are…ragging endlessly on them and their ethics. I guarantee you it encourages them to do better. CTD is fully aware of the boycotting. That doesn’t mean they care, but it means they know and that they’ll lose business. The’ve done this before and didn’t care, but they’ve got to realize this time is different..they went a little far this time.

I write my legislators and others who do not preside over me, I get others to do so, I make new shooters out of people, I instruct new shooters in CCW. I have been restoring lost gun culture in this country for about the last 6 years effectively in CA and MT and to a lesser degree in other states. There’s little more I could do to fight for the 2A than I do now.

      LOL at your whole comment.

Amazing how Brownells, Midway, etc… was able to keep their prices normal.

  10. CTD sold us down the river at the drop of a hat, and now is trying to make up for it. FVCK THEM! They can charge whatever they want for mags, that”s not the important part. When they willingly participated in the effort to drive a wedge into the gun community by demonizing black rifles, they stepped on their dicks. Now they have discovered which way the wind blows and are trying to cover their tracks. Screw them, and people like them (Hello Dicks Sporting Goods). Let them go chapter 11, someone else will fill that void in the market.

I don’t have a huge issue with the pricing, because that’s how the free market works. You may not like it, but that’s fine, don’t shop there. If enough people do that, then they’ve priced themselves out of the market and they’ll either drop their prices or go out of business. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I think it’s friggin’ ludicrous that they’re asking $3900 for a Colt 6920, but my recourse is to not buy it.

On the other hand, I intensely dislike the politically correct “we don’t sell guns yes we do our system was broken we’ll sell guns again but not scary black ones” roller coaster they went through.

I will try to avoid giving them money in the future, but to be honest, that won’t be hard, as I’ve only spent money with them once in the past, and my experience has been that it’s not at all hard to beat their prices once shipping and bullshit handling charges are factored in with just a little bit of shopping around.

  12. CTD still has PMags for $100 and USGI for $80. They are scum, never again to have my business.

    1. I second that. Neither CTD or Dick’s will every get any more of my money. I will never set foot in their stores and I have talked to a number of my buds, and they agree.

  13. ya CTD is off my resource list, i wont give them another penny.

  14. Cheaper than dirt, isn’t. Even before the gouging.

The 2AF needs to cash the check because there is a wave of legal bullshit they need to fight and that money will go aways in smashing down illegal laws.

CTD is dead to me. They’re fuckstick jokers and the kind of appeasement they showed was exactly what delivered the 1994 AWB (Smith and Wesson / Bill Ruger, anyone)? If you’re too stupid to learn that cooperation with grabbers drives businesses into the ground, you deserve what follows.

CTD has been on my black list for years for the “we don’t really give a shit about Calafornia and don’t want your business” attitude. A year or two ago they tried to buy their way into CalGuns good graces again after the first attempted ammo restriction. They contributed something like $1000 or something, it was quickly pointed out to them that they’re jerks and Mark LaRue personally donated five times that amount.

These guys are dicks and always have been.

  18. Didn’t know about the 2AF thing, but I do remember thinking Whiskey Tango Foxtrot when they came out with their “just Like LaRue Tactical” BS. I still won’t buy from them any more.

Do you have an official statement from CTD on why they stopped selling guns 3 days sfter the shooting?

  20. CTD has pretty much been on my shit list for a while.

I’m going to have to totally disagree with you guys on the price gouging issue. Although, I was pissed about them not selling firearms and thought that was a huge mistake. and thought they were total sell out pieces of crap for that.

However, I have no problem with them selling PMAGs or any of their products for as much as they want. This is capitalism. They can raise their price to what they think is fair market value. If their price is too high, they won’t sell any, and be forced to drop the price. If they still sell out of their product at incredibly high prices then that means that the market price has now risen.

    Basic economics,
When the DEMAND skyrocketed to HUNDRED times what it was, and the SUPPLY remained unchanged. The price of goods is going to rise dramatically. Period.

Based on the auction sites the market value of a PMAG 30 is now a minimum of $40 per mag. I just wish I have bought more in November. Prices will normalize of the next 18 months and I will stock up then.

I am glad to see them donate money to SAF, as they probably will do more with the money than the NRA would. Even if it was just for the PR, the money will help the gun rights cause.

    My humble $.02

Would take a hell of a lot more than that for me to forgive that entity. They’re D.E.A.D. to me.

p.s. My main man Larry Potterfield and the good folks at Midway are now my go-to place, followed by the gang at Brownell’s.

  24. There are plenty of places to buy ammo and gear.

CTD gave me a reason to go elsewhere, and now I will — always.
