Scumbag Cheaper Than Dirt Grasping At Straws

Oh look, they “sponsored” an NRA commercial:

I’m not even sure what “sponsoring” an NRA commercial entails.  Maybe you tell the NRA you’re going to make a commercial, and then they review the message of it and allow you to put their logo on it?  Who knows… either way I don’t really care.  They already tried to buy their way back into our favor, that didn’t work… so why not try affiliating with the NRA right?  I really wish the NRA would have LOL’d at them and told them to shove it, but apparently that’s not how things work outside of my little grudge holding bubble.  Oh you shit on gun owners and the 2nd Amendment several times?  Oh whatevs LOL that’s in the past… welcome back!  <— basically how it seems to go.

I think that holding a grudge turns one into a fool. Either resolve the grudge–like maybe you should talk directly to their management, face to face, and figure out if they really are really slime balls. Or shut up about it. Right now what you are doing is dividing Llies when we need all the allies we can get.

Talk directly to their management? hahah why would they give two shits what I think? If I called there chances are they would laugh because we both wouldn’t be able to hear each other over the sound of their money counters.

F Cheaper than Dirt. They didn’t learn their lesson on the last go around of gouging (Obama’s first election). They have proven they have crappy business practices and have lost a ton of business because of it. I love a free market!

Screw those price gounging bastards. I haven’t even looked at their websit since they started their shit. Plenty of other places to shop.

Sadly enough, I was searchin for extra pistol mags this week since I bought an M&P in december during Gunpocalypse and they had M&P and XD Mags which I found out thanks to google search, no matter what, the bastards always seem to have inventory. I also live 10 minutes away from the brick and mortar store anyway and would still rather go to Cabelas.

I do agree with Ranger G, would be nice to actually get a Press Release from them trying to explain something, but I feel like it would just be wishful thinking and like politicians, they would just tell the public and 2A advocates what they want to hear.

    1. They have everything in stock because a) their prices were higher than everyone else when other places still had stock and b) they’re still being boycotted by a good portion of the gun community. They’ve given their customer base two really good reasons never to buy from them again.

A press release isn’t going to help either. Look at Recoil. The guy left the magazine and it was already too late.

They have inventory, because they are so expensive. But if you werent smart and neglected to buy magazines and ammo before all of this crap happened, at least you can get some of it from them.

You are full of fail and speculation. They were flooded with more orders than they could handle, and just like several other large online retailers, had to stop taking orders. Where’s your proof why they pull guns off their site?

Don’t like their prices, then don’t buy. You want an unlimited supply and cheap prices. Not going to happen anytime soon.

You’re just another member of the FSA.

Cool story bro. Yea companies often sell TOO much and then decide to throw in the towel on that whole part of their operation *eye roll*

This is the exact press release:

Cheaper Than Dirt! is suspending online sales of firearms effective immediately. We are reviewing our policy internally, and will continue to be the leader in the outdoor industry with our full line of gear and accessories.

I tried to google FSA and couldn’t come up with anything relevant that insulted me, so if you could clarify I’ll decide on whether or not I want to be insulted at that haha.

Did they stop because of political pressure or overloaded?

If it was pressure, then why did they stop on Monday, not on the day of the shooting?

Their statement didn’t say because of the tragedy.

FSA= Free Shit Army. Those that free or talk about gouging but really mean they want socialistic price control as long as it works in their favor.

    1. BBJones Avatar

I love a free market. Guess what it also gives everyone the option to say CTD screw you and I will never do business with you again. And by saying that loudly it sends a message to other retailers. They will make temporary profits at the expense of future profits. Time will tell whether it was a wise move. It definitely is not the moral high ground.

They didn’t say they stopped because they were overloaded or out of guns either. Why stop on monday? Because it takes time for any large organization to get anything done. They had to have meetings, run it past their PR people and lawyers, etc. Not to mention that I’m sure none of the executives work over the weekend. As for FSA or whatever it is. I’ve never heard that before either so maybe you made it up or got it off 4chan or something. Not a thing wrong with complaining about price gouging. The bottom line doesn’t always have to be the bottom line. Sometimes supporting your customers by getting the profit you were going to get anyway is better than raising your prices 1000% to take advantage of a situation. Wanting a fair price for something isn’t wanting it for free. I have to go with ChrisM’s reply above me. It’s the essence of capitolism. Plenty of other places to shop.

Still no facts. It’s much easier to make stuff up that sounds contrary to your wants.

What facts are you looking for? This is a conversation, not a debate. My conjecture is just as valid as yours as neither of us knows for sure what happened behind closed doors. My assumptions are based off of experience and the rest is my opinion. So, what facts?

  11. Cheaper than Dirt ads still run on your site. So you are taking their money and traffic and complaining about the NRA doing the same? I love this blog.

Yawn. I don’t control the ads. Sure I could get the CTD ones removed but I just think it’s priceless they haven’t pulled them themselves.

Really? people still care? This happened sooooooo long ago now. Spring is here, march madness abounds and presumably the new rounds of tv shows will be beginning, move on people.

  14. !!who cares? I say let the NRA take their gouge money and use it to fight the oppression we are all facing. Fuck it. If they want to be giving to the NRA, great. If they want to spend their gougings on Endo Mike, great! But don’t think we don’t know what’s up…we are people…not sheeple!!!!

And for goodness sakes…buy a shotgun…a double barreled shotgun! **rolls eyes**

    Too little, too late.

I got their latest catalog last week, didn’t even bother to turn the first page – right into the dumpster.

Good riddance. In the words of the great Kenny Powers “…you’re f***ing out!!!”

p.s. S&W, if you don’t join the industry boycott and move out of Massachussets then you’re also going to get the Kenny Power treatment.

Man if they had 9mm or .22LR ammo right now I’d be tempted. Most of their non-ammo is absolute crap anyway. Unless you’re looking to deck out your SKS in TAPCO tacticool junk and a $39 Leapers scope, then CTD is the go-to retailer.

  17. I’m really tired of the this CTD bashing – if you don’t like their business model or variable prices than don’t buy from them.

There are alot of people throwing mud at a company that for years has been a large contributor to the NRA through there add a buck program. I’d like to see ENDO put up matching millions and then be critical.

Also the fact that their selection and usual prices means that many many more companies are able to come to the market and make a living in the firearms industry which means that much more money, support and exposure as well. Many of those companies also support and encourage the NRA and other organizations as well.

The message right now needs to be unified – I am not saying buy over priced PMAGS from them but don’t endeavor to reduce their viability and the companies they support that have maintained there pricing or those options to purchase them.

To borrow from an old saying “United we stand, divided we gun control”

I’m sure CTD is reveling all the free advertising they are getting. Most people forget really quick… my guess is that all this controversy will only help them in the long run. Pretty sad if you ask me, but that’s how it seems to work. I just hope people do their research and purchase from one of the hundreds of other companies out there.
