FOX Business Imagines Turning Everyone Into Snipers

TrackingPoint CEO defends his product and his rights:

“Guns Kill people”… “Think of the implications”.. blah blah blah same old anti-gun arguments.

“Weapons System” used to be the term which I hated the most…. I can safely say that has now been replaced with “Firing Solution”.  Is that a thing people say?  I think I’m going to start calling this blog a “Derp delivery system / entertainment solution”

TrackingPoint-LogoSweet lord $20-30k.  Until they make one for the Deagle brand Deagle I’m not putting up that kind of money.

Thoughts?

Still can’t understand this. So the host was thinking of all the evil that could be done with this product. Why do anti gunners always go for that? All the people you could kill with this system. Rather then marveling at the technology of it all? the ability to calculate a firing solution from 1000 yards and put a bullet on target ( i don’t imagine it does humidity or wind values. ) that’s pretty incredible. Then again, The host is imagining that anyone nut can get this. when the average income is around 30-45k a year. I doubt any bank would loan you cash for a weapon system.

also, weapons system is kinda accurate for this setup imo. This isn’t an M4 with a special scope. nor is it a law rocket. This a complete system with the bespoke rifle apparently being a one part and the computer and tech being another. kind of like the javelin weapon system. they’re designed around one another.

    3/10 troll, try again fox.

They should try bringing on a importer of warbirds such as the newer MiGs and “continue the debate” with that.

“Do you think the average peon should own a jet fighter that costs more than your house?”

  6. Jerk the trigger and your 20k scope will be worthless, every time.

You hold the trigger and the setup breaks the shot when its on target.

I dont think he understands that a nut would be much more likely to buy a 400 dollar hunting rifle than a several thousand dollar rifle. Fox, you are the stupidest group of people ever assembled.

Buy this set up for $20-30k. Or, a very determined psycho or lone wolf buys a Remington 700 (about $900 when I bought mine years ago) Decent optic (I bought a good Leupold scope for about $1,100) and then takes a long distance shooting class (something I’ve never done but would estimate with cost, travel, and ammo about $2-3k) and then maybe a few months practicing at a local range (again, an estimate of about $1,000 in ammo and range fees at THE most) and you get the same result at a much lower cost than this weapon system. Seems a little silly to me.

so my bolt action rifle can lock onto a target and hit that target even if I muzel my buddy and pull a trigger?

doubt it. Seeing as it relies on a clear line of sight. IF you follow any of the three basic firearms rules. you’re fine. (finger off the trigger till ready to fire, Don’t point the rifle at anything you’re not willing to destroy, always point your weapon in a safe direction. )

Yep, sight the target, pull the trigger halfway to set it in memory and then anytime in the next half hour you can pull the trigger from anywhere and the bullet will go and find that target.

How many homicides take place every year with a $5000 Barrett in 50bmg?? Oh, that’s right, zero…but we all know that’s because the 50bmg is banned in CA. So how many assassinations will occur on the streets of Long Beach with this $30k setup? BLOOD WILL FLOW IN THE STREETS FO SHO!

I’m just a civilian, but isn’t “firing solution” a submariner’s term for “the trig is right for a successful torpedo launch?”

As a submariner, I can confirm you are correct sir. However, I think it’s now a little more universally used to refer to any shot that requires math to be applied to guarantee accuracy. I could be wrong though.

Much as I respect Varney, I think his inner English is showing.

But, we are going to hear these questions anyway so you might as well have the answers in advance.

  15. I think we should support an effort to lower the price and equip some of our snipers with them.

Just think a guaranteed .50 head shot at a mile.

  16. I have the slight feeling, when getting to the end of the video, that the interviewer is asking all those silly questions just for the sake of argument, because he is asked to (Piers must be behind that!), but that he is genuinely interested by the technology.
    Am I just being naive?

And, by the way, if you’re not able to zero your “firing solution” at the correct range, this is 100% chances to be off the target. Or does the system do it on his own as well?
