Automatic Fire Fireworks – Tracers At Dusk Bounced Off The Water

Not a single shit was given by this guy:

Assault-Rifle-Because-I-Am-BlackShooting at water is never recommended because of ricochets.  Tracers shot blindly into the forest probably isn’t recommended either because of the fires they could start.  Who has time to worry about safety and things that “could” happen though?

Thoughts?

  1. Read many many years ago a case of some idiot shooting his .22LR rifle while on a boat at a floating can on a lake. Bullet skipped and landed on the back of the head of a young woman driving on the coastal road that surrounded the lake and killing her. The bullet went at least 50% longer than its regular distance and had enough power to kill the woman. It was summer day so she was driving with all the windows open (this was in the early-mid 1960s) and detectives agreed that if the rear left window had been up, she’d probably not be hit.
The idiot was charged with manslaughter.

  2. Looks like fun, if you don’t care about knowing your target or backstop. The ricochets were going in so many directions …. I’m glad I don’t have a cabin across the lake (or on the other side of that hill) from this guy.

But hey, looks great on YouTube, and that’s all that matters, right?

I wonder if this was somewhere in Colorado? To be honest, this is exactly the kind of thing the antigun crowd can use against law abiding citizens.
With the type of back ground checks you have to go through to get a F/A and this guy is still obviously an idiot and willing to give that all up to make a youtube video. The can track him down with his IP address(just like everyone) and take away his rights. If he is responsible enough to have those rights is up for debate. I am all for it, but i consider myself responsible. I would not consider this dude responsible, especially because i am pretty sure we hear a small child at 0:13?

I recommend not making any youtube videos or posting pics on fbook that show you doing something negligent. It will all be compiled and used against you at some point in your life.

*Just because you CAN do something, Doesn’t me you SHOULD do something! Its called self restraint and our entire country could heal itself over night if the population started showing some.

Honestly there are places in the west where you could do this safely. I hope this guy was doing so. But I’m tired of the internet commando safety nazis bagging on every single video anyone dares to post. You don’t know anything about the situation or what precautions may have been taken but you just can’t help yourself from spouting off about what if there was a cabin over there.

Perfect example of why one should always be ready to defend oneself when some asshole starts spraying full auto fire at you from across a lake.

Im sorry, how do we know this isnt his own property and no one else has access? I missed that part.

Gasp, im not the only one tired of people crying about safety when they know nothing about the situation.

Seconded. This could have been a stupid person shooting wildly into the night (like they do during a certain cultures weddings), *or* it could have been a person shooting into know territory safely. We just do not have enough information to know which case it is. I for one am going to assume this is a safely done example of why you should not shoot at water until someone shows me evidence otherwise.

So if you assume this was safely done do you assume every firearm is unloaded when you pick it up?

You are comparing apples to oranges. When I watch youtube gun videos I usually assume most of the safety checks are done off camera (including verification of the backstop), unless the poster has a history of safety violations (in which case I assume the worst). When handling my own firearms I verify safety myself. I cannot really think of a way for me to verify that people in youtube videos are operating safely, as most videos do not present all the relevant information.

Of course that is not saying you should not point out how things in videos *could* be unsafe, as that is good info for most people to know. I would recommend simply making an observation though, and stop short of condemning the guy as an unsafe moron. For all you know it was done in a perfectly safe manner.

        2. As was so apltly asked here:

What ever happened for a respect for the presumption of innocence?

      2. Intentionally causing ricochets off of water like that is irresponsible regardless of where he is doing it. As can be seen in the video, trajectory of a ricochet is widely variable and hard to predict. Assuming that is a .223 it with a potential maximum lethal range of upwards of 3,000 yards – it’s not out of the realm of possibility that a round could skip and end up in a place the shooter never expected.

Do we KNOW he is shooting in a dangerous direction? No.

Does that make it any less stupid/irresponsible? No.

    2. Another second on that.

For all we know this is in the middle of Nowhere, Minnesota and that the shooter owned the lake and the 25 surrounding acres.

I agree that the safety nazis are stupid. however, i am under the impression that these tracer rounds can catch things on fire. is this not correct? if that is so, regardless of what everyone is saying, he is shooting tracer rounds in to what we can see is a densely forested area. is this not negligence ?

again, i am not sure about the tracers being incendiary. but if so this guy is a asshole.
