Glock G42 – Photoshop Trolling?

Someone please verify the authenticity of this ad, and put the link in the comments:

Glock-G42-Advertisement-Ad

The above picture was posted on TheFirearmBlog recently.  No link to the source, and when I looked at some of Glock’s blogs and social media pages I don’t find any mention of it.

These are the reasons I think the picture is fake:

  1. The comparison of size to a Zippo lighter is weak.  Why would Glock do that?  I think they have a better marketing department than that.
  2. The Zippo lighter looks like a shitty low effort image pulled off google… I tried to look for the matching pic but couldn’t find it
  3. Has Glock ever used PROVEN in their ads before?  I don’t remember seeing it.  Plus, if the gun is new, why would you put PROVEN in the ad?
  4. People love starting SHOT show rumors.  “OMG Becky, I heard this year Glock is coming out with a rifle!  OMG Trisha I heard a single stack 9mm.  Lets go get bikini waxes and discuss the merits of 9mm over .45, and what finish of Deagle Brand Deagles we want to get our boyfriends for Christmas.”  Yea it’s like that.

Anyone?

  1. I too was skeptical and am now convinced this isn’t real. First off, I am a professional graphic artist, and this whole thing is boo boo. The Zippo directly over the Glock silhouette is a big design no no, the fact that the Zippo is an actual photo makes it extremely out of place within the context of the rest of the imagery. The use of another brand in their ad also screams fake. The use of the red is not like Glock. AND… the lack of finger grooves on that Glock silhouette tells me someone didn’t take the time to use an image from a Gen3 or Gen4. Gen2 was the last Gen with no grooves. Logic dictates that will not change anytime soon.

    1. Sorry, now that I look at it on a decent monitor it’s orange not red. But, you know what I mean.

  2. This is the oldest thread, I could find about the Glock brand Glock G42. Looks like it’s just an Internet rumor. – http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=835499

Ad might be fake but the 41 & 42 models Are real. 41= longs life .45, 42= single stack 380/9mm.

  4. Glocks dick would cram the market if they made a single stack 9mm

    1. But that would require Gaston Glock to actually pay attention to what his customers want… in other words, not gonna happen. Ever.

    2. How do you figure? It’s been done by everybody BUT Glock, It would still be the least ergomic gun of them all and still have that stupid Glock grip angle. The only people that would get excited is current Glock owners.

  5. One of my distributors is (pre) listing:

    GLOCK UI4250201 GLOCK 42FS 380ACP 3.26″ FS 764503910616 0 $352.00 $399.00

  6. A bit of historical nit picking, Zippo was not the lighter that lit every time. It was Ronsons that used that tag line. The Germans called Shermans Ronsons because when they shot them….

    1. It could be that is a historical Ronson.

  7. One model will be the Glock 41. SKU numbers are PG4130101 and PG4130103, which indicate adjustable sights, and a low-cap and hi-cap version. The Glock 41 is more expensive than any of Glock’s other pistols to date; based on the wholesale cost I’m seeing, street price will be $779.95 at my shop. Given that, my official guess is that the new Glock Model 41 is going to be an optics-ready, competition-oriented pistol to compete with the S&W M&P CORE and FNH-USA FNX-45 Tactical.

The other model will be the Glock 42. SKU number is UI4250201, which indicates US-made, fixed sights and a low-capacity (10 or less) magazine. Wholesale price on this is only slightly above the Gen3 models, so street price should be $539.95. I think this is a new single stack .380 or 9mm of some sort.”

  8. January 2014 seems pretty close for this to be a leak of an official announcement. The use of “PROVEN” is also strange for a new gun, but after the “Confidence to live your life” campaign I’ve quit trying to make sense of their marketing.

Assuming they are coming out with a single stack 9 or 380 they’re a little late to the game. If they are they really should have leaked development. People in the market for a small carry gun might have held off that purchase if they knew GLOCK had one in the works.

one thing is for certain. the image appears much more grainy than the image of at firearmblog. i assume you just saved them image from that site rather than getting a actual jpeg. that most likely is causing the degradation in the image. which would make sense if it was a screen grab of a screen grab of a screen grab of a leaked jpeg.

Yes, I enlarged the pic off the firearm blog since it was tiny.

  10. I call BS. I for some reason don’t see glock releasing a single stack 9mm. But maybe thats just me trying to not get my hopes up.

A long slide .45, that seems like something they would do though. Mostly just to piss off anyone who wanted the single stack 9mm. After them releasing the 30s last SHOT, I came to the conclusion they just love fucking with peoples heads.

  11. Well i still love the PPK

so this same ad was posted over at soldiersystems.net – which is verified legit. so this ad IS REAL.

  13. Travis and Dan came out and said these new models will be
Ready to ship after SHOT next year
    Or as
    Late as March.
    Lets hope its sooner.

  14. If it’s “proven”, doesn’t that suggest the .380 they’ve offered for years overseas?

  15. The ad is in the latest Guns & Ammo mag.

  16. Love the ad! Have it in my new issue of Guns&Ammo. Can’t wait to see what Glock has in store for us!

  17. Yep, like Owens and Shump said, it’s in the January 2014 G&A. Laughed when I saw it there because I remembered this article when I saw it.

  18. Sorry guys but you all drank the same kool-aid. The picture IS real and was authorized by glock.
If you dont believe me see for your self. Look at the jan.2014 issue of guns&ammo
Page #17. There is the exact same ad. Highly doubt that a fake picture of a new glock made it by glock
Themselves and guns and ammo magazine. Gun looks super cool. I was thinking of trading my
Gen 4 g26 for a xds but it looks like ill be able to stay with the glock line afterall.
Outstanding job to the guys at Glock!

  19. The February issue of G&A shows all the details on the Glock G42. It is a small sub-compact 380 cal. designed as a CCW with 6+1 capacity. It gets a good review from G&A and is kind of pricey at $475 msrp. This will probably be the Glock to see at the SHOT show in Vegas. Don’t know when it will reach the retail stores. A lot of people are in the market for a small reliable CCW that they can actually get a grip on. I will stick with my Smith & Wesson 38 Special Airweight because a revolver is fool proof and the 38 Special ammo has more knock-down power than the 380. The Ladies will love the new Glock.

Zippos don’t fire every time. Plus they always leaked inside my pocket and gave me a rash.
