Mark Wahlberg Talks To Conan About Lone Survivor

So do we hate Mark Wahlberg this year still? :P  I forgot if Lone Survivor redeemed him or not?

That mortar blowing up in his face thing was pretty crazy.  I’d be mad too.

Thoughts?

Why did we hate him?

Love Survivor kicked some major ass, he’s cool in my book

He’s made anti-gun statements. That was a couple years ago. I wonder, after working on this movie, he still feels the same way.

In 2007: “I believe Charlton Heston is America’s best villain because he loves guns so much. Maybe he should get the award for being president of the National Rifle Association.” But his anti-gun attitude didn’t stop there. “Well, I would love it if they could take all the guns away. Unfortunately, you can’t do that so you hope that good people in the world have them to protect the people who can’t protect themselves,” “Certainly, I haven’t used a gun anywhere other than on a movie set and I’d like to see if we could take them all away. It would be a beautiful thing.” – Marky Mark

Ahh, Gotcha.
Never ceases to amaze me seeing all those actors crying how evil guns are and then turning around and making their millions with those same evil guns

Well he’s not making money off guns, per se, he’s really just telling a story and using guns for artistic effect and blah blah blah. You’re right – these actors, who inexplicably have the attention of a significant portion of our fellow Americans, don’t have to play by the rules they think should be set.

When I hear the name Wahlberg, images of hair clippers living in houses, a neighborhood of clippers, come to mind.

Wahlberg was crap in the movie. He’s incapable of acting like anyone beside a Bostonian.

You guys are just jealous that A) he is a movie star; B) he is rich; and C) gets laid way more than anyone on this website could EVER DREAM OF! ;)

Oh, I don’t know, I can dream of an awful lot of laying ;)

I don’t really dig wahlbergs style of acting, but good on him i guess. You make a lot of assumptions about people you don’t know, A) I never want to act, its just not an interest B) Being rich is easy, and after a certain point money doesn’t really have the same meaning D) He does not get laid more than me…. that’s just a hard ass fact. (unless he is cheating on his wife Rhea Durham then he is an idiot and I have only pity for idiots)

Jim I hate to point this out, but only a poor and undersexed individual would equate those as reasons to be jealous.

Had you said “your just jealous because he got to hang with some bad ass navy seals….” well that is entirely possible.

Worry less about who is jealous, worry more about your bottom line, and your options of fornication, it will be more fulfilling I promise.

I hope the movie does justice to Marcus and his story. Regardless, I would suggest reading his books and searching-out his youtube videos for the real deal.

As far as Marky Mark, I enjoy most of his movies for the mindless entertainment that most are (such as “Pain and Gain” and “The Other Guys”). I thought he was pretty good in “Shooter”, but I understand how the entertainment industry works with pressures to conform to their peers opinions of the day (whether informed or not). I do think it’s hypocritical to make money off shoot-em-up movies, if he’s truly anti-gun.

He’s entitled to his opinion. 1st Amendment and all. If indeed that is actually his opinion and not that of some jackass agent/handler who told him he had to say it.

In any case, if anyone is going to allow the opinion of Mr. Wahlberg or any other actor, whatever it may be, to cause them to boycott a movie or otherwise get even a little hung up… yeah, you’re a bigger moron than any of them might be. They have their opinions, you have yours, they support their causes, you support yours, and the world keeps turns. Get the stick out of your ass and get over it.

Lone Survivor was an excellent movie, and Mark Wahlberg as well as the entire cast did a fine job.
