Lock Up Anything You Don’t Want Kids To Play With

IKEA had a similar ad.  Either way, it’s funny.

Evolve does not address legislative issues, but instead focuses on exerting social pressures in order to persuade individuals to voluntarily adopt the most responsible gun safety behaviors in the context of their lives and communities.

EvolveTogether.us is the group who put it out.  Nice website… they pretty much had me on board as soon as I arrived at the site and witnessed the typography, graphics, color palate, and the layout.

evolve-life-country-responsiblityI don’t have time to read everything in their website, but it appears they aren’t a threat to gun rights as some of those similar looking wolf in sheep’s clothing help us help you groups are.  haha they have a Tales Of Dumbassery section on their website linking to several irresponsible incidents involving guns.

Thoughts?

C’Mon Mike. That’s some sanctimonious anti-gunner disdain for our dumb redneck cousin-humping gun loving kind. It was not started by gun owners, it was started by NYC ad executives. Don’t you remember their “don’t be a dumbass” video from last time?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04HL_hp1i4k

Watch that and tell me these are people who care about the right to keep and bear arms. They think we’re dumbasses. Period. It most certainly is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Those ads are very polished and glossy, and well done, which means that they are expensive. Which gun owners do you know who spend millions on telling their fellow gun owners that they’re essentially dumbasses. Yeah, me neither. It’s a very polished turd, but a turd nonetheless.

I agree that *my* guns should be locked up since I have little toddlers running around. My neighbor who has no kids in the house anymore, hell, I’d be proud of him if he hung an ar15 on the wall of his living room. These people seem pretty obsessed with locking up guns, ergo, my guess is that they’d be down with laws mandating locking up firearms. Remember what Holder said about that brainwashing thing. Edward Bernays would be proud.

For a guy who makes some of the nicest, coolest, most comfortable firearms t-shirts out there, I’d think you’d be offended at such cultural zingers aimed at us. While I own many of your shirts, the wife won’t be seen with me when I’m wearing them. She tolerates my guns, but your shirts, not so much. She’s afraid of what people might think. I’m not (since I bought them), but I wouldn’t be making many friends if I wore them around my daughter’s school. That’s a problem we need to fix. The more women we add to our ranks, the more normalizing we’re doing.

Hey Jim, I appreciate your support! haha that’s unfortunate your wife won’t be seen with you when you’re wearing them. I never poked around on the website for more than a minute but after reading all of the comments on this post I’ll have to take another look at it because there is obviously something sneaky going on.

Different direction here……I hope one of those kids grows up to be a big hollywood star and this commercial comes out as his first gig.

Take a look at their “code”:

    http://takeonthecode.com/code.html

“I will keep all my gun unloaded, locked, and properly stored when not in use.” – No thank you.

    1. God forbid you safely store a weapon when you’re not using it. Obviously only an antigunner would want to do that. That’s why i leave all my gats loaded, round in the chamber and strewn about my apartment, and jsut to spite the evil commie nazo facism liberal neocon nanny state authoritarians, I filed off all the serial numbers, removed the safeties, and tuned each one to a one-pound trigger pull. Fuck safety, amirite?

No Doc. I’m all for safety, and I practice it. The kind of highly polished junk above gives anti-gunners boner for mandatory storage laws. If you do not have any children in your house, I do not care if you leave your AR15s laying around the house loaded. If you do and you do leave them around, well I hope you thought them well. If you don’t, Darwin’s law and all. There was been a huge uptick in propaganda relating to the safe storage of firearms. It’s not an accident. Here is another one:

        http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/06/robert-farago/firearms-safe-storage-ads-breaking/

Again, these highly polished advertisements cost a lot of money. Follow the trail and you’ll find the motives. Some Ad Execs in NYC are going to have to try much harder to make me think for one second that they give two shits about the 2A.

  6. Evolve is a media shill of gun-grabbers trying a different angle on infringing the 2A. They think that gun ownership is equivalent to drunk driving & cigarette smoking & our thinking needs to be changed by similar media methods of mass brainwashing. Remember Eric Holder’s “brainwashing” comments here: http://youtu.be/0nM0asnCXD0

Look at their FB page, they highlight the accidental/negligent stories (because as John Lott’s research shows, the MANY MORE safe use or defensive gun use stories DON’T MAKE the NEWS) as if we have some kind of epidemic of children & negligent discharges.

Their entire existence is based on the false premise that MOST gun owners are dumbass’.

In full disclosure, I am a father of 3 grown children & one grandson. I carry everyday to protect myself & my immediate family & never are my own weapons accessible to anyone but myself & my wife.

    1. Morgan Avatar

So basically, you agree with Evolve’s standpoint?

Nothing exists in a vacuum genius. It’s a nice message, but the not-so-subtle hints lets me know very clearly what they think of us. As Glenn points out, you think they are going to post storage about proper use of weapons in self-defense? Keep dreaming.

    2. Most people are dumbasses. Gun owners are people. Ergo, most gun owners are dumbasses.

I find it humorous that you’re painting a big conspiracy behind Evolve, but quoting Lott’s research.

Well, if that’s not an elitist attitude I don’t know what is.

Elitist – a person who believes that a system or society should be ruled or dominated by an elite.

        1. Pragmatist: Someone who understands that most people are pants-on-head retarded.

on it’s own, the ad is great. although the children should get a stern talking to about the proper handling of dildos.

From their FAQ page: “Over 30,000 U.S. deaths and 100,000-plus accidents per year by firearms from criminal, suicides, and accidents is an unacceptably large number.”

    There’s your politics right there…

    1. Jim Jones Avatar

Especially considering that ONLY 62 kids died from accidental use of firearms in 2013:

      http://www.nssf.org/PDF/research/IIR_InjuryStatistics2013.pdf (page 3)

Given the 300 million firearms in circulation, this is the textbook definition of statistically insignificant data. Seems like a lot of money to throw at something that is really not a problem in the first place. It’s propaganda in its purest form. I suggest you gents pull your heads out of your asses and smell the air. Looks to me like most people are responsible in the first place. This is just an effort to “other” us, and you should all reject it vehemently.

Update… even the Ad industry think its bogus, because it is simply wasting money by having no reachable demographic.

    http://adage.com/article/ad-review/gun-safety-ad-epic-amazing/293921/

Perhaps these deep-pocketed liberal hoplophopes could maybe spend all their otherwise misdirected $$$’s to take all the gangsta’s off the streets of Chicago, LA, & NYC “gun violence” might actually drop more than it already has. In the meantime, keep your weapons safely loaded & your dildo’s locked up! For the children…

I think the subtext they are trying to slip in is that if you have firearms you are a sexual deviant. Their whole idea is that firearms and male sex organs are similar and gun owners are compensating. They really think that firearms owners are disgusting and twisted.

Well, anyone who thinks disarmament makes us safer from criminals or the government (but I repeat myself) is mentally defective.

Look at Jim Jones comment that it is their effort to “other” us and discredit us by associating firearms owners with something unsavory.

    1. Sex toys are only unsavory if you’re a repressed prude.
