• ALT-J Gun References In Song Potentially Worries Band Member

Everything about this song and video is basic, but that’s apparently the point:

This is the chorus / verse, the one band member is worried about (see interview below), because he thinks there’s a possibility it will be used at an NRA convention.

Well your left hand’s free / And your right’s in a grip / With another left hand / Watch his right hand slip / Towards his gun / Oh no / I tackle, we tussle / And oh my days we’re rolling / My right hand’s gripped on his / Colt single-action army.

Alt-J resolved to write “the least Alt-J song ever”, taking a “joke riff” Joe had been playing in rehearsals and fleshing it out with the most perfunctory chords and rhythm imaginable. Whereas the band typically spend weeks agonising over every note, Left Hand Free was written “in about 20 minutes”. Needless to say, the US label loved it.

Thom: “I tried to make the drums as cliched as possible, there’s none of my personality in it.”

Gus: “I’m doing some kind of organ solo. I don’t know where ‘baby’ came from.”

Joe: “And I say, ‘Gee whizz,’ which I’m not sure is a phrase I’ve ever uttered before. I can imagine it appealing to American truckers with Good Riddance To Bin Laden stickers!”

“Oh God…” says Gus, a worrying realisation dawning. “Someone’s going to walk onstage to it at an NRA convention.”

NRA-LogoIf it was my song and Sarah Palin wanted to say some stupid shit at an NRA convention and walk on stage to it playing, I’d be kind of irritated.  Not “I’m going to say they can’t use the song.” or “I’m not going to cash the check.” irritated… but irritated none the less haha.  I can’t tell if the comment Gus was made in jest, or it’s actually out of gun / NRA fear.  My guess he was probably just cracking a joke to liven up the interview, and couldn’t care less who wanted to use the song where.

  • Slow Motion Guns And Bullet Flight Blowing Stuff Up

Slow Mo Lab puts some footage together:

Oh lawwwwd that DEAGLE footage! My heart almost exploded when I saw the slide reciprocating and that massive vortex fireball.

Extreme Deagle limpwrist at 1:47 complete with brass to the face and fail to feed.  So classic.

Definitely not as good as Richard Ryan‘s slow motion videos.  One of the main differences is all this footage is very dark, whereas Richards normally have great natural contrast.

  • High Speed Low Drag Gun Loading And Body Mechanics

Travis Haley talks about the power of habit, not all necessarily habits from the sandbox:

Zoolander-Travis-HaleyAlways good to hear what he has to say.  Long video because he talks TONS, because he has a lot of stuff on his mind and it’s definitely good info.

I hate not making my bed in the morning.  I don’t like looking at it when it’s a mess, and I hate getting into an unmade bed at night.

God his skin is beautiful.  Like a tactical god, follow that link and learn how to be more like Travis.

  • History Of The Double Barrel Shotgun

Xbox Ahoy look at double barrel shotguns in real life and video games:

Always nice to watch this guy’s vids in 1080p with some popcorn.

Doom-Video-Gamehaha DOOM II was so legendary, I loved that shotgun.

Holy I’m so out of touch with video games.  I hadn’t seen or heard of so many of them shown in the video.

I don’t follow these conflicts well enough to come up with a witty relevant caption so I’m going with “I want to say Hi to my mom!  Abdullah and I are riding dirty tonight, and I didn’t make my bed!”

Abdullah be like “THIS. IS. GAZAAAAAAAAAAAAA.”

    Caption it.

  • Potential Dust In Your AR-15 Magazine Well Woes

Another AR-15 related product no one ever asked for:

The MICS (Magazine Insert for Cleanliness and Safety) from Paratus.

Seriously?  Guys take these rifles into BATTLE, in the worst conditions on the planet and they work just fine with dust and debris in them.  I can’t see the AR-15 safe-queen guys buying these either to be honest, because why bother?  Perfect long term storage solution?  Uhhh ok whatever you say.

What’s next?  Will this company come out with something to seal every hole on the AR-15 making it airtight, then an extra little tank to purge the oxygen and replace it with Nitrogen?  Oh shit, if that wasn’t their next idea it definitely might be now.

Every once and a while when a company is veteran owned (like this one) some trolls stop in on the comments and start with the “MIKE HATES VETERANS!”  No I hate useless products, poor advertising, shitty execution etc… regardless of the persons past or present career, accolades etc…  Being a veteran and owning a company doesn’t grant you success; you need a good product.  If you guys like this magazine insert because you care that your magwell has no dust in it, then please by all means buy one for all your rifles and one for gifts for everyone you know!  I couldn’t be happier for you.

LOL I lost it at “Patent pending seal”. That seal looks so NXTLVL I bet non-firearm related companies even are going to want to license the seal technology to use it on their own products.

I’d like to tell you guys a price on this, but I’m either too dumb to find it or this is the usual situation where people like to talk about something they don’t sell yet for some unknown reason.
