Not the kind of sign you would expect to see on a bank:

Very refreshing.

It’s from the window of the Chappell Hill Bank in Chappel Hill Texas.  Judging by the pictures rotating on their main page, it looks like a really neat old place.

HA HA So long:

  • Assembly Bill 1810
  • Assembly Bill 1934
  • Assembly Bill 2358

Check out the NRA site (HERE) for dumbed down descriptions each of those bills.

I’m glad that common sense prevailed (this time).

According to one of the main pictures (left) on the hilarious looking website, the pocket is big enough to stash a 67 fl oz. ( 2 Litre ) bottle of coke. Hey, if it can do that, then maybe you could stash that mortar or AT4 you were looking for a place to hide!  You just gotta watch out you don’t bend up your loose cigarettes too much.  hahaha

According to an article in the Wall Street Journal, New York City Police are very concerned:

Instead of the standard light pat-downs around suspects’ waistbands, the knowledge that this secret underwear exists is going to cause police to have to undertake more thorough searches of some suspects, said Capt. Vincent Patti, commanding officer of an area covering several housing projects in the Brownsville and East New York sections of Brooklyn. (Source)

At least the jean material that SmartCarry And Thunderwear are made out of is semi rigid. I couldn’t imagine having a gun bouncing around in a pair of regular underwear.

No matter what, for deep concealment i’d still prefer the gun not be anywhere near the front half of my waist.

Check this past post out for a good review of SmartCarry and Thunderwear

When someone not in uniform carries a gun in public, they are in effect saying “I could kill you, if I chose.” Which in turn poses an immediate threat to my own freedom of speech, freedom of action, freedom to congregate and freedom to be in public spaces.

So does driving a car make the same statement then?

Open carry advocates claim they are protecting the public by being a secondary, informal police force. Personally, I prefer the trained, publicly accountable and regulated police force. I know the rules that law enforcement are obligated to protect. I do not know what laws, regulations, whims or prejudices govern the behavior of someone I have never seen before who is carrying a weapon.

Publicly accountable? hahhaha  How often is a police officer held accountable for their actions when they do something wrong?

Also, the last part I put in bold I found especially hilarious.

It feels like a troll article.. written to get some traffic to the site. If that’s the case I suppose I fell for it, because the author does such a good job of being blatantly ignorant.

What do you guys think?

Since open carry of firearms will likely be banned in California sooner or later, residents will have to find an alternate way to protect themselves:

Is an axe a weapon? Sure, but depending on context, everything is a weapon:

“Oh the axe on my back officer?  I was just on my way to my friends house to help him make some kindling” – Legal disaster possibly averted.  :P

If you think you have the balls to pull off such a fashion/personal protection statement, hit up the links below to purchase it.

  • The Axe Sling – $165 – HERE
  • Custom Axe to go with it – $220 – HERE

As always, if you live in California, make sure to let the politicians know how you feel about the impending ban, before it’s too late.

Bryan from ITS Tactical wore each holster for 8 months; SmartCarry wins hands down.

YouTube Preview Image

I don’t know who came out with their deep concealment holster first (anyone know?), but if it was SmartCarry I say good for them! Serves Thunderwear right for releasing an inferior copy of their product.  That said, they both appear to have issued patents on their products, so who knows… maybe thunderwear was the first?

I just can’t wrap my mind around having a gun that close to my junk, and having to pull it out. By “it” I meant the gun, but having to take a pee with either one of those on would be a bit awkward I would assume as well.

People might reconsider tailgating this guy:

Pretty classy.  The fake bullet holes on the rear fender are uncalled for though.  Stupid crap like that just brings the entire look down a notch..

I wonder if the same company makes those to fit a full size Glock on a sport bike? :P

The so-called open-carry movement took a hit today when the state Assembly approved a bill that would forbid anyone from openly carrying an unloaded handgun in public.

The Assembly approved the bill 45-25 with nine members not voting. It now moves to the Senate for consideration.

Ugh.. Brutal. I was hoping it would miraculously get squashed.

Gresham, OR – Police say Roger Witter, 48, was in an AT&T store at 533 Northwest Division Street in Gresham when two men stole multiple iPhones. Witter witnessed the theft and, instead of waiting for police, he took off after the men, firing at their getaway car.

He told police he intended to “shoot out the tires,” but it is unclear where the rounds ended up, though police said he fired in a direct line with the Gresham City Hall Max station and the adjacent Park & Ride.

Full Story – HERE

Not very good discretion on behalf of the CCW holder.

It’s lucky there was no serious collateral damage. That said, if he would have successfully shot out the tires, then proceeded to execute the thieves in the middle of the street I definitely wouldn’t have shed any tears.

Reminds me of a quote:

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

Fairbanks, Alaska - A woman wants a face-to-face apology from two Alaska State Troopers who detained her for 20 minutes after they spotted her walking with a gun in her hand.

Beth Allard is a certified firearms instructor and the daughter of Joe Nava, a prominent local gun-safety and gun-rights advocate. She was carrying a snub-nosed .38-special revolver while walking on a dirt road near her mother’s house.

Allard said she kept the pistol pointed down with her finger away from the trigger, a method she frequently uses while jogging.

Full Story – HERE

Call me crazy, but I don’t think jogging with a loaded gun in your hand is necessary unless you are about to engage a target. I know someone is going to bring up the topic of bears or wolves, but really…. if that is the reason, she should be carrying something more than a .38 special.

Holsters are so cheap, she could pick up any number of styles that would still render the gun accessible to her within milliseconds.

If I saw someone jogging with a gun in their hand I’d assume that they were either chasing someone, or being chased by someone.

Another heads up for all you Californians who read the blog…

Wednesday May 12, the Assembly Appropriations Committee passed Assembly Bill 1934.  AB1934 now heads to the floor of the Assembly for consideration.

Source: NRA-ILA

Not good guys… Not good.

It’s your last chance to contact your Assembly Member and urge them to oppose the Bill.

A reader and frequent commenter Bryce who is a resident of California notified me that they are definitely trying to sneak this one in.  He says there is NO COVERAGE whatsoever on the local news stations. Very troubling.

In case you need an excuse to visit Starbucks:

Remember it only runs until May 16th!

More info on their website – HERE

Just when I thought I finally shook the Frappuccino monkey off my back, they pull this. :P

I seriously used to drink about 5 Venti double blended java chip Frappuccionos per week.  Realizing that not only was that habit costly, but also terribly unhealthy I switched to drinking decaf iced Americanos once or twice a week. Thank god my metabolism hasn’t slowed down.

Also, funny story… I walk into Starbucks today to take advantage of this deal, and it appeared that the large (oh excuse me.. VENTI) size got bigger.  I dismissed it as my imagination at work, but then I got home and did some googling.  The new Venti is called a Trenta, and is actually 31 oz. rather than the normal paltry 24 oz.

Looking at the Starbucks Frappuccino nutritional data page, I notice one glaring omission…

It appears Starbucks doesn’t offer this flavoring ( yet ):

Starbucks, the hearts of gun owners are already won… but please just impress us one last time and give us bacon syrup.

It would actually likely be disgusting, but that wouldn’t stop me from trying it.

For those thinking the Bacon Torani Syrup is another one of my clever photoshops – think again, it’s real!

But I digress… my point is, go enjoy a half price Frappuccino, and go armed.

I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m going to later tonight. It appears that the gun content starts at around 12 min.

A heads up for all you Californians who read the blog…

On Wednesday, May 12, the Assembly Appropriations Committee will consider Assembly Bill 1934.

AB1934 is a blatant attack on the self-defense rights of law-abiding Californians.  Simply put, this legislation would outlaw the open carrying of a handgun for self-defense.

Please contact the members of the Assembly Appropriations Committee TODAY and strongly voice your opposition to AB1934.

Also, please contact your Assembly Member in opposition to this bill.  Their contact information can be found here.

I didn’t get a chance to watch it or record it. I hope it goes up online so I can check it out.  I heard a portion of it was dedicated to open carry.

Did any of you guys catch it? Was it any good?

Doonesbury decides to revisit the Starbucks open carry topic in another useless strip:

Doonesbury – Source

Yahoos… Morons… loudmouth gun owners?  The tone hasn’t really changed…  Holy his comics are boring.

I am not familiar with the characters in Doonesbury, so I looked “Leo” up.  According to Wikipedia’s list of characters:

Toggle (real name Leo DeLuca) – a veteran of the Iraq war. Toggle, a young heavy metal fan, was wounded in an ambush while serving as Ray Hightower’s driver, and has returned home with aphasia and a loss of sight in one eye. B.D., his former commanding officer, often checks in to see how he is doing. While recovering from his injuries, Toggle met Alex Doonesbury over the Internet and has become her boyfriend. He has considered attending Walden under the new GI Bill, but came away from Zipper’s tour unimpressed.

Seeing as Leo fought in the Iraq war, I believe he would have used the M240 not the M60 which Trudeau mentions in the comic strip.

Trudeau sure knows how to beat a stereotype to death.

If you missed all the previous anti-gun Starbucks comics he did in March, you can find them HERE

I see on the wikipedia page that they are found around the world… All I can say is DAMN THAT GUN SHOW LOOPHOLE!

When these guys O.C. along the coast of California, they better not keep that claw loaded.

I hear Paul Helmke specifically requests these at Red Lobster, on the condition he can watch them being boiled alive.

I’m tapped for more jokes on this one.. what do you guys have? :P

Even at $20+ per car for admission to the National Parks I have been to, in my opinion it’s worth every penny.

If the money is what has been holding you back, the fees are waived for a week, from Saturday April 17th until the 24th. (Source)

Go get some fresh air and exercise, and don’t forget to bring your gun.
