tannerite

The idea was grand.  The outcome not as expected:

4:58 – LOL oops.  Lesson learned, lucky someone didn’t end up with a piece of something in their head.

Their 10 ft tannerite pipe worked fine… I guess 60ft was too long for the explosion to propagate?

There are a lot of suggestions on their youtube video comments on what to do to make that long one work, I have no idea if any of them know what they are talking about though.

Thoughts?

His beautiful girlfriend of four years:

Like I always say, the couple that shoots together stays together.  Actually that’s the first time I’ve ever said that, but I’m going to roll with it.  Congratulations to them both, what an awesome way to propose.   Initially I thought the ring box was maybe encased inside something indestructable inside of the bear, and he was going to say “oh look at the flourescent box that flew 200 yards down range… go see what it is!”.  Probably best he didn’t do that though, because if it unpredictably flew back and hit one of them, the video wouldn’t have been as heartwarming.

Rainbow-Shooting-Shotgun-Kirsti-Brandon401401I hope the frequency of their videos doesn’t decrease to make room for wedding planning! heh

In other news… Me?  Still #ForeverAlone.  ;/

Thoughts?  Did you propose in a shooting related way, or know anyone that did?

Tannerite is so awesome, one senator wants to make it more difficult to get:

Some highlights:

(0:55) – Ron Humbert of the metro bomb squad is “extremely nervous” because it could be used for something other than its intended purpose.  Yea Ron?  Do kitchen knives, gasoline, fertilizer, javex, plastic bags, lasers, vehicles etc… etc… also make you extremely nervous?

People blow this stuff out of proportion.  (1:46) – OMG THE BLAST DESTROYED THE WOOD it was placed on! Also this quote:

(2:00) – Dat explosion.  If you’re not scared by that, you’re not breathin’ -State Senator Jim Merritt

Bannerite Tannerite!  Actually please don’t.   Tannerite must love all the free publicity they have been getting over the years.  What more could a company ask for? The media demonizes your product, most of the people that see the fear piece think it’s awesome (not scary)… your two concerns become 1) How to supply the market with all the product it needs?  2) What should I do with all this money?

I was skeptical when I hit play… but soon after was impressed:

The video started off with some jello-effect (rolling shutter) digital SLR filming by someone that couldn’t keep the camera still on a pan to save their life…. then came the old bait and switch… but in a good way!

0:39 – Straight disrespected that hole which a coyote used to call home.

That .22LR brass ejection starting at 1:10… great shot.  I love seeing shock waves in the dust on the ground too.

Thoughts?  Anyone used this Star Targets brand of binary explosive?

Yawn:

200lbs of fail for not involving fire.  ”OOOOO some orange looking dust”  pfft big deal.   Check out this video from Boomershoot to see how to do it right.

What a waste.  Also what’s with all the swearing now?  Is it some Yeager-esque attempt to bolster a “tough guy” image?

Thoughts?
