you would think the a guage would be bigger like the 20 gauge shell bigger then the 28 guage.

I actually want a 28 gauge, I shot a 20 gauge, but not a 28 gauge, I think the shells are very similar, but the 20 gauge has a bit more length in circumference

The guage is caluclated by the amount of lead shot the size of the bore that is needed to matke up one pound. Therefore, the smalle the size of the bore, the higher the number of lead balls is needed. So the smaller 28 ga, needs 28 lead balls the size of the bore to make 1lb, where as the larger 12 ga, needs only 12. Hope this helps. Which btings us to a .410, which os a caliber, not a guage.. but as it is a shotgun they use the name guage to avoid confusion.

Thanks

Well, a 12 gauge has the most buckshot while the 20 gauge is a bit smaller. I recommend the 12 or 20 gauge for heavy-duty home protection. The .410 is a decent shotgun, but probably not the best for home protection. I also recommend a pump action shotgun. Remember that you can make any choice you desire.

But I can say is it is Like Dodge, Ford, Chevy Truck. All are good to each of its own. p here in Alaska I have to say the 870 Rem Exp. Mag or Super Mag can take a beating and keep on shooting straight, 20 years after I have nothing but great things to say about these shotguns. All my family members at 12 get one, and we will pass them on to our grandchildren’s children’s. But remember each make has the same story, but I really do not know too many people bad mouthing these Rem. 870’s.
