How Not To Take A Nap On Your Rifle

Sleeping on the job AUG:

Darwin called… Pretty much the stupidest thing you can do. Loaded or not, it is not good practice.

The rifle is a Steyr AUG.

I can’t tell what country those guys are from by the patch and uniform.. anyone know?

They look Austrian by the uniform, covers, and kit. They’re not Bundeswehr.

  2. It could just be the angle of the picture but it looks to me like the guy on the right might have the muzzle of his rifle pointed (inadvertently) at his own throat or chin.

it happens way more than youd think. there are many stupid people that do this in our own military. even at the range during training. usually its just people stupid enough to rest their hands on the muzzle

  4. Austrian or Australian, as those are the only militaries that issue AUGs standard.

    1. Well no but you are close

    2. austrian-made they are also used issued in australia, new zealand and east timor

      1. Getting better guys, have a look at Wikipedia and you will get the full list.

Almost for sure Austrian. The hat style and green solid uniforms are the old Austrian uniforms, and so are the boots. I think they are changing it to a more modern pattern.

    Confession time:
I used to put the muzzle of my M16 up into my helmet and let the chinstrap support my head and just kind of snooze. Never locked and loaded, though, and the muzzle was pointed directly at my head.

I meant to say that the muzzle was NOT directly pointed at my head.

That sort of thing was very common in Israel, years ago, it resulted in several accidental deaths. That is why you see reservists carrying their rifles without a mag.

    1. So they can have nap time?
