Creepy Military Robots

What sounds like a chainsaw, walks like it’s drunk, and looks like a headless centaur with backwards rear legs carrying some packs?

This robot that is being developed for the Military:

Seems to work pretty damn well.. a bit rigid but I guess that is to be expected at this point in the game.

If you weren’t creeped out enough by that first one, check out this headless wonder:

I no longer want a segway for sniper practice.  I want a gang of the above robots to run around with bottles of tannerite attempting to dodge my bullets.

That’s pretty neat. That first one looks pretty awkward on the ice and in the snow and mud but that was very impressive when they guy kicked it and it was able to keep its balance. Too bad it sounds like a 500 pound mosquito.

I know that I saw the first one a few years ago, but I don’t remember the second one. I couldn’t help but laugh when the first one started slipping on ice.

Wow. All you need now is a head and full torso with a small nuclear power source and a 40 watt plasma rifle and you will have a terminator.

40 watts. That always seemed funny. Doesn’t seem like that would do much harm.

Not to sound like a joy killing spoilsport, but would you maniacs stop giving freaky ideas to the Doctor Robotnik wannabes at Boston Dynamics, please? It’s going to be difficult enough when the gorram zombie hordes go on the rampage!

Both robots reminded me of this: http://www.mummenschanz.com/

But put bulbous “eyes” on the front and clear wings on the thorax, then send it up to chase Taliban! Religious fundamentalists fleeing a giant demonic fly, it just gives me the giggles.
