Creepy Human Bone Art Representing Violence

Francois Robert has created a series of powerful artworks made out of real human bones to remind people about the consequences of violence.

Human skeleton is a strong visual symbol that represents what is left after life has ended, after the flesh and mind cease to function.

I keep forgetting that nothing is off limits when it comes to art.  I wonder how much money guys like this make per year, coming up with crazy stuff for rich people to buy.

I do think it looks really neat, but since it is created with human bones that is just a bit too creepy for me.  From the 2nd article I posted, it appears that all of these displays are made using one skeleton.  I imagine that only prints are for sale unless you commission him to make an original.

  1. That is just plain creepy. I am all for political art, but I prefer the Shepard Fairey and Banksy style.

    1. Even better than Shephard Fairey are the original artists he copies, while neglecting to acknowledge. Ironically, he threatens to sue other artists for using his work. Go figure.

      1. Oh, and this stuff is just really creepy and weird. But, I guess there’s no shortage of creepy and weird people out there to be interested in this kind of thing.

I’m all for Banksy! I agree with Josh though, that Shepard Fairey is the prince of plagiarism and douchebaggery.

      1. It’s too bad he’ll forever be famous for that damn Obama poster. Don’t get me wrong, the poster is great, except for its subject, but even with that he had to deny the photograph that was actually used and try to cover it up. What a douche. I’d like to say that I hope somebody rips off his work and turns it into something that makes them famous and rich, but chances are whatever they would steal will have been stolen by him from someone else in the first place.

        1. Yeah I really really like that poster, but it is a shame that our dear President was chosen as the subject matter. And yeah, I am not a fan of how Shepard Fairey blatantly plagiarizes, but I still like his style. Anyone see the new Banksy pieces that popped up in San Fran in the last week? Very nice stuff.

Where does one procure a human skeleton?

If you search through google, there seems to be some for several thousand dollars. Here is one such site – http://www.skullsunlimited.com/record_species.php?id=3152

That site is lying to me. I won’t give thousands of dollars to a liar unless he promises to give me millions in return!

        Phylum- Chordata
        Class- Mammalia
        Order- Primata
        Family- Hominidae

Wonder where they get the bones. Someone who donated their body to science?

I bet some of those places operate under the guise of science. Yet they probably do all sorts of shady stuff to get skeletons. Sounds like a Dateline episode waiting to happen haha

If I were into tattoos, which I am not, I would seriously consider one of these.
