Cold Steel Two Handed Great Sword

If you think the pen is mightier than the sword watch this:

…. I need to see a pen that can beat that!

Looks like a lot of fun, but a likely trip to the hospital if you are not careful.

The sword is $550 at Cold Steel ( HERE ).  At that price, it looks like I’ll have to keep my non weirdo status (and my limbs), and live vicariously through the video.

looks like a super fast way to prepare for a cookout

  2. “The sword world continues to overlook, in my opinion, the efficiency and power, and, I even say, majesty of this great sword…”

I didn’t realize there would be any reason to debate the efficiency and power of a sword, as if people were still using them in battle. What do you want to bet that a census of the “sword world” reveals its population to be mostly composed of dudes living in their mothers’ basements playing World of Warcraft . LMAO

Say that to my tactical sword! http://www.gagecustomknives.com/_349_Gage-1.jpg

Just kidding, I do not own any. Probably never will… until the zombie apocalypse.

As far as swords go, that one definitely is the least nerdy one I’ve seen.

i had the same thoughts. he put way too much effort into popping that balloon. i dont think a full on ballerina hop was necessary

haha no kidding… that whole segment was unnecessary.

      1. I know this is a really old post (i’m working my way through the archives for kicks), but I’m surprised no one noticed that the whole balloon segment was referencing the Tueller test. Notice at 3:59 the balloon is at the 21ft mark.

Still his lunging form was…not good.

They stuffed the boots with meat!

Is there any way up from stuffing boots with meat?

I thought I had seen shameless advertising before, but nothing like this.

I believe Mr. Thompson’s cheese has slid off his cracker.

  5. Folks can say what they like about the cheesy-ness of the Renfaire geeks in the video and I’ll agree completely, but you’ve gotta admit : The slo-mo of the pig head getting cleaved was pretty awesome. :)

Yea that part is gaurneteed to scare some people with its awesomeness if the rest of the video didn’t.

I don’t think I would want a sword that sharp. Too much could go wrong if you start swinging it at random stuff.

  6. Is anyone else reminded of Star Wars Kid by this?

      haha Good call Dom!

So much wasted meat! Besides that fact that it’s not that impressive to cut through a rib rack, I have a cleaver in my kitchen drawer that can do that.

I agree. Hopefully they at least made a soup for the employees after all that.

They work with a local food drive to preserve it and feed the homeless.

  8. I can only imagine the point of buying one of these things is to put it on display somewhere. That being the case, I think I would rather it be dull than sharp at all. Maybe that’s too logical though. Logic might not play a factor in the decision-making process of someone who decides they must have a big-ass sword.

Dom mentioned Star Wars Kid; this must be a relative:

Good point.. I’m sure most of the people that buy these never cut anything at all with them.

I feel bad for laughing at that video haha

  9. Cold steel doesn’t know European swords at all. They do a much better job at Asian swords, but they just grossly overbuild those Euro swords.

A sword of that type, historically, would have been 2-3 lbs. That one is like six pounds, yet CS swords are known to break. If you’re going to get into swords, head over to MyArmoury and educate yourself before you drop $500 on a sword.
