So… what is that multi-wheeled… thing… in front of the MRAP on the left?
I have no idea. I assumed it was some sort of trailer that was parked there.
I was just on the phone with a buddy who was a Marine reservist. I had sent him the picture and he didn’t know what it was called, but he said it’s something that attaches to the front of the vehicle to strike mines/IED’s. He thought they were hydraulically controlled (to steer) and said they’re usually found on the lead vehicles in convoys. I guess that explains the lights on it, to help illuminate during travel at night. I still can’t figure out what it’s called or anything like that though.
I don’t know exactly what it is either; I was curious myself. One can be seen in this video:

It makes me think it’s something to assist in vehicle recovery after a mine/IED strike, but I really don’t know. I poked around on the internet to try to figure it out but couldn’t.
Looks like a mine-roller/anti-IED device, like Josh said…
