Ebay Bans Sale Of Gun Control T-Shirt

The reason ebay gave for the removal of the auction:

Images depicting high ranking Nazi officers are not permitted to be sold on the site. Please do not relist this item.

We recognize the historical significance of World War II and that there are many militaria collectors around the world. We allow some related historical items, but ban others, particularly items with Nazi markings and items which may be considered Nazi propaganda.

Interesting… If you search ebay for “Hitler Shirt” there are around 100 results. It appears that lots of times ebay has trouble enforcing their own rules.

  1. I’ve long had a love/hate relationship with Ebay. They enable so many of my eclectic collecting interests, but they are so ridiculously anti-gun that it makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes. I heard the other day that Meg Whitman – former CEO and one of the founders of Ebay – is making a run for Governor of the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia. She’s pretty clearly not a friend of the 2nd amendment from what I’ve read, so Ebay’s anti-gun heritage goes way, way back.

ugh Meg Whitman… that’s all I heard about on every news station last week when she won the primary

  2. Offhand, and making a wild-assed assumption, I would say EBay’s cancellation of the auction had significantly less to do with the men pictured on it, and significantly more to do with the message of the shirt directly conflicting with theirs (as Paladin pointed out).

I guess a little honesty is too much to ask of them.

  3. Note the warning was only for Nazis… What if we only put Stalin and Mao on a shirt?

That’s a good idea Jim. hahah someone should push the limits and try that. Same exact shirt but no Hitler.

  4. How can something be Nazi propaganda when the Nazis are dead and can’t benefit from propaganda? Or maybe they’re saying that images of Hitler are propaganda for Stormfront.org?
    *facepalm*

who knows… too bad they have the last word. I tried asking one of their online help people a weapons policy specific question once and it was like talking to a brick wall.

  5. Hitler was not an officer, just a corporal…

hahah awesome info Jeff. Ebay fail!

  6. Yep, the California Republicans are sort of screwed with Meg “Money Bags” Whitman as their candidate, especially if they care about the little bit of 2nd amendment we have left in the state.
