Guns Carved Into Wooden School Desks

And a grenade:

Employing impressions of guns, knives, grenades and even space-age sharp shooters – the desks are transformed from relics of a childhood past into intricately formed, vaguely intimidating reflections of the rapidly changing face of contemporary culture. (Source)

hahaha how did I know the explantion was going to be something more than “The artist carved guns into school desks because he thought it would be cool”

The artists name is Ben Turnbull.  He does not appear to have his own website, but the works in this post are apparently featured at Eleven Fine Art Gallery in London England.

Probably drafting a ban as we speak. :P

Same. It’s done in such a way that it almost looks like it is coming up out of the desk!

  3. These remind me of the pictures I’ve seen of fossils embedded in rock..

Yea good call, they definitely do look like fossils.

      1. … yea, and guns will probably be “fossils” one day!! … if we do not protect our rights …

  4. Maybe its just me but these look like badly done photoshops

I’d have to disagree, I think they look pretty amazing. Although saying they look like photoshops is probably a compliment to the artist.

I thought so to until I saw the grenade. I work in PShop everyday and my first impression was “wow – what a weak job”. This digital age is getting to us. Nice work!

  5. Better than “I <3 MEDS".

      I love meds? What’s that?

  6. I think he actually gave the lengthy description about what it was about, because he thought it was something that should be talked about and simply not just cool?

I’m sure he did. I was making light of the fact that all artists think their work is super important and they always attach a deep meaning to it.

Pity they are pretty obviously not real. I’m still waiting for a SERPA platform that screws on to the inside so I can keep my P226 and several mags :) :)
