South Korean Sentinel Robots Start DMZ Duty

DEMILITARIZED ZONE, Korea – Security along the 160 mile wide DMZ has gone high-tech, as South Korea has quietly installed a number of machine gun-armed robots to serve as the first line of defense against the potential advance of North Korean soldiers.

When the robots’ heat or motion detectors sense a possible threat, an alarm goes off in the form of a siren or signal on the screen at the command center. The operator then uses the robots’ video and audio communication equipment to talk with anyone identified by the SGR-1 before deciding whether to fire the 5.5-milimeter machine gun.

Full Story – HERE

My question is… When do we get these for the Mexican border?

The $200,000 price tag for each one seems like a steal of a deal. Heck if I were super rich I’d pick up a few right now to watch my stuff.

  1. By your command.

    1. Classic!

      1. I can’t allow you to do that, Dave.

        1. Second request: present green card!

            haha

  2. Maybe I’m a buzzkill who can’t take a joke, but I don’t think much of your suggestion that we’d be better off if illegal immigrants were shot at the border.

      It wasn’t a joke.

It’s pretty simple, cross the border properly with ID at a port of entry and you won’t get shot. That’s the way the rest of us have to do it.

      1. I’m with Mike.

      2. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

  3. Would we be better off to continue down the road we’re going on now?

  4. You have illegally crossed the American border. You have 20 seconds to leave.

  5. The future is now.

That’s pretty amazing, but also pretty scary as to how it could be utilized. *tinfoil hat*

  6. LOL man that guy’s obvious voiceover voice is killin me! “A team, cross the border line through the coast”

    classic promo

  7. Screw the fence. Put these up on our boarder with a few command centers and a few apache helicopters with the order you have one minute to turn around or else. We will have no illegals and no drugs coming across on the ground at least.
High expense at first but with less fence to build and less personnel to employ it would be cheaper in the long run
I wonder how much government built fence you get for 200k?

    1. Half mile most likely. Thats with a discount.

Yea when you’re talking a fence made out of steel and concrete I doubt $200k would go very far.

  8. If the current administration got these for the border they’d be disarmed and would instead welcome them and hand out bottles of water and sandwiches and direct them to the nearest welfare office, in spanish.

    1. funny, but sadly true :-(

  9. My only question is – how well armored are these? We know Mexican gangs have .50s and various other reach-out-and-touch-you tools that could easily perforate pretty significant armor with just standard ball, FMJ ammunition. They may not exactly be the best shots in the world, but these little guard turrets are not exactly going anywhere… I would absolutely want them deployed with one of the sniper detection systems that is being developed these days, such that they stood a chance of being able to do counterfire… which raises the interesting political question of people in one country shooting into another and vice versa.

Regardless, they would sure as hell beat the current option…

Yea good point.. I’d imagine they would be able to stand up to small arms fire at the very least. .50 though who knows… I can’t really find any additional information on the details (for good reason I suppose).

  10. Without taking the time to read the full story (I’m not THAT interested), the thing that initially popped into my head were scenes from those God-awful Robocop movies from years ago. You know, where the alternate or “improved” Robocop models are unveiled and say, “You have ten seconds to drop your weapon,” or something to that effect. Then the demonstrator drops the weapon, and the machine opens fire and blows them away anyway!

    1. The deference, these are automated for the detection only the rest is done by mans control

  11. retarded video for such a good idea of a border defense weapon, we have something similar in the army called the crow system it mounts on vehicles or towers and can remotely fire just about anything the army has from mounting 50cals, saw’s, 240b’s, MK19’s and AT4’s

Nice! I had no idea our Army had such a thing.

Some of the footage is taken from Bad Boys 2, Which, by the way, was a great movie. 2 tone glocks and sigs, DSA SA58s? All that needs is a couple of sig 550s and tapia to switch his converted SPP to a USP match.
