Steve Lee – I’ll Give Up My Gun – Boring And Depressing

I posted about Steve Lee a couple of times in the past (HERE and HERE) because of his “I Like Guns” song.

This video and song has a different tone to it though.  Steve seems VERY sedated in this one … Maybe those oppressive Australian gun laws are getting the best of him?

I thought the original “I like Guns” song was catchy, and the video was neat to watch.   This song though is just flat out depressing… excuse me while I go finish off my bucket of Coldstone ice cream while sobbing  and reminiscing of a time when gun laws were not so restrictive.

For the love of god, cheer up Steve.

While I’m picking apart the video, I figured it was worth mentioning I thought it was odd that at 1:55 min he takes his cocked revolver (finger on the trigger) and points it at the roof while singing and not paying attention.  Then the next scene after that he’s shooting at metal popper targets from probably about 5 yards away, where he hits his first target.. then blatantly puts the next shot high into the (particle board?) backstop.  Not that it’s a big deal that he missed (I miss all the time), I just thought it was funny to include in the video.

I freaked out when I saw the part at 1:55, my entire body clenched up.

Well fellas thats how it is. Steve’s right in the song’s lyrics. People who had shot all their life, people who had semi auto 22lr’s given to them as heirlooms had to throw them in the crusher. These people left the sport and never came back in 1996 it has taken the best part of 15 years for us to start winning small victories politically and in the media. Its not all our way but this is the best shooters have had it since 1996 when the govt banned a lot of guns.

Wasn’t much to be happy about when those who had to give up their guns finally did it.

I was lucky and unlucky I never got to own a semi auto so I don’t know of the pain of having it stripped away but I don’t know the pleasure of firing one either.

So I don’t agree with you on this one Mike, it to me makes me want to fight more for our rights and makes me think how I’d feel if they tried taking my guns away from me. Probably too Aussie-centric for the US as it hits on local issues.

Dude,
Depressing? That song is so spot on. Wake up and look around you. Bullseye about our vanishing individual liberties. Every day some nanny government assembles, another liberty is taken away.

Steve could added to the laundry list of fallen freedoms. The casualties grow daily!
