I don’t know what to think of that commercial. It’s really well done, but the fact the soldier is missing his legs, and then presumably dies after turning the TV on seems to be in poor taste.
Am I crazy for thinking that, what do you guys think?

Nope. You’re crazy :) This commercial cracked me up.
Here is how I see the commercial: A kid is tearing up some toys. The soldier action figure, having already been mortally wounded, drags himself across the room while the carnage continues behind him (as shown by the stuffed animal head rolling into the shot in the background). He gets to the remote and, with his last ‘breathe’, turns on the tv. This distracts the kid from destroying the soldier’s friends. The soldier is the hero of the commercial.
Am I missing something? Are you trying to say it’s insensitive to our vets?
Yea you know re-watching it today I agree with you. Initially i did think the paraplegic part of it was unnecessary.
Should have came around back in 1983 would have saved a good many of my GI Joes and Star Wars toys that meet their end to roman candles and M-80 fire crackers.
hehe yea I used to do the same thing with GI Joes too actually.
My friend and I used to tape action figures to whatever aerosol cans we thought his dad wouldn’t miss and shoot the cans with BB guns until they blew. Was fun until we managed to paint a swath of od green on the side of their off-white house.
Side note: His parents found the paint about a week later. He got punished, but didn’t mention my name. A true friend in my book ;)
