Photos From Afghanistan (September 2010)

U.S. Navy Corpsman HN Ikaika McCallum of Kaneohe, Hawaii nurses a bullet wound to his face aboard a Medevac helicopter September 19, 2010 near Marja, Afghanistan. The bullet tore across McCallum’s lip and exited through his cheek without doing any major damage. (Scott Olson/Getty Images)

Lucky guy. No major damage obviously, but I bet that hurt like a Bee0tch.

Some especially neat pictures this month.

  1. After that wound heals, if I were him, I’d be saying “Why so serious?” a LOT to make up for the fact that I got shot in the mouth =/

LOL yea that would be great

  2. That is gonna be a serious Sgt Barnes (Platoon) “don’t fuck with me” kind of scar. That will go a long way to gettin free beers and even a few loose women. Still, being a Corpsman he should have access to the good drugs, so hopefully he’s not feeling that too much. I almost doesn’t bear thinking about if the bullet was an inch higher or lower.

Yea that scar is going to be crazy. Speaking of Platoon.. It’s been way too long since I last watched that movie.

    2. being a Corpsman, I got to let you knwo that having access to all the good stuff is a mith. the Doctors, Nurses and IDCs have that S#!T locked down, we get the bare esentials like morphine… once in a while you ge a chance at a five finger discount but those are few and far between. he will probably get hooked up when he gets to the FOB though…

  3. No. 27 Geez would you look at that backblast!

haha yea, hopefully there are just guns and not other soldiers in that dusty mess. That would be a unfortunate accident to take some guys temporarily out of the fight.
