Gander Mountain Virtual Shooting Range

Both of those looks very awesome.  More so the 2nd video with the wrap around screens.

If there is one thing I hate about a lot of these “Virtual Reality” type setups at places, is that the employees take it TOO seriously. As far as i’m concerned it should be your choice if you want to take it seriously as a training type exercise, or if you want to go rogue and shoot hostages and rapid fire into everything you can see.  You’re paying $60 per hour after all.  It’s virtual reality, no one can get hurt.

You can check out the Gander Mountain Academy website – HERE

Not sure why they think they are so important that they need a pricey VeriSign Class 3 SSL certificate… funny to see that.

  1. Gander Mountain takes Virtual guns SERIOUSLY! So when you’re cruising in the virtual world of CYBERSPACE, you don’t want to take a stray ELECTRONIC BULLET to your VIRTUAL PERSONA!
That’s why we provide a CLASS 3 SSL, It’s a CERTIFICATE for your SAFETY!

  2. I will give it to them for thinking of this although its nothing new we used simulators in the military for years.. it is open to public though.. ummm nothing and I mean nothing beats real hands on training with REAL BIG BOY/GIRL bullets and targets.

this is a picture (given, a not great one) of the same sort of system in use by the army. Four screens, ten stations with gas powered, automatic AR series rifles, AT4s, moving targets, everything.

probably the reason why they don’t want you shooting hostages or something is the psh that would result from the anti gun crowd about the new ‘mass murder simulator’.

Or it might be because they’re trying? to train you for the situations as close to real life as possible and in real life just opening fire on anything that moves wouldn’t be kosher?

      Maybe?

If I could afford this I would have one, as a safe training aid it would be great !
If there was a Gander Mnt. range in the mall , I would look forward to going shopping .
Range scented soap in the restrooms ?

much the same as FATS machines used by LE for about 20 years now. looks cutting edge thought. the best usage for these things, and it looks like it’s one of the things they’re doing in the videos is “shoot-don’t shoot” training, which is always a good thing.

So if you go there and deliberately blast a virtual mommy and her kid then have you committed a crime of some sort?

I’ll get in on the bet for how long it takes until that happens.

Having used the similar FATS LEO system I will say this system is great at recreating unexpected, stress induced self-defense scenarios. Highly recommended for all who want to take their training to the next level.

That being said, this price is pretty darn steep…

What do you think drives the blowback on those pistols?

WHY…at 2m6s into the video does the blonde chick BLAST AWAY at the gangster-lookin chaps with 4 rapid shots but the screen says “You have chosen to back away from the situation. Move to safety and call 911.” ?????

    1. I have recently used a Home Theater version of a Laser Shot system. Worked awesome. It will be easy to install in my existing HT system when I get a projector. Has anyone else tried the Laser Shot, and liked it as much as me????
