Cowboys & FreddieW & Favreau

Jon Favreau is pretty awesome.  I want his semi in a briefcase thing!  I’d also take FreddieW’s arm cannon too, that thing packs a punch.

If you haven’t already figured out why Jon Favreau is in the video, it’s basically a promo for the new movie he directed called Cowboys & Aliens, based off the graphic novel of the same name.

Opinions on the movie and/or graphic novel?

If you watch the behind the scenes you see that the arm cannon prop is the actual arm cannon prop used in the movie worn by Daniel Craig (the gun hating hippie)

Is he actually anti-gun? With the movies he’s starred in that’s surprising…

…I hope not – he’s a fantastic actor.

Most actors are hardcore anti-gun, like, IIRC, Christopher Walken, who almost flat out refuses to touch one.

Except Tom Freaking Selleck and the great Heston…there are still a few old school awesome people in Hollywood. They’re a dying breed, but they’re there…

A quick trip to Google picked up an interesting list: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/2nd-amendment-issues/35989-list-living-pro-gun-actors.html

Assuming that this is remotely accurate, some of the people on the list are pretty surprising.

From that list Laura Prepon is pro gun but she’s also a scientologist…
I never would have guessed Sarah Michelle Gellar at all but that might explain why people say she never really hung out with her cast members on Buffy, they were all liberal.

Ashton Kutcher despite being someone I never really want to see in a movie is apparently very pro gun. In some interview someone asked him if he’s worried about stalkers, etc and why doesn’t he have body guards and his response was something like, “I don’t need security I have a Glock.”

Penn Gilette is very very pro gun. He did an entire episode of his show about it. The show concluded with a thought experiment where he said we should give every women in America a gun and even if only half of them carried it with them you’d be able to watch crime drop drastically.

I’m surprised Adam Baldwin, aka Jayne from firefly aka Motherlover from Full Metal Jacket aka not one of the “Baldwin” brothers isn’t on that list. He’s very conservative politically. He hosts some online radio show about his conservative politics.

“He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor
Stood up to the man and he gave him what for

Our love for him now ain’t hard to explain
The Hero of Canton, the man they call JAYNE!”

That’s so cool to hear he’s a conservative. Very cool indeed.

That’s totally freaking awesome. I have a picture of me shooting my Romanian WASR (AK Clone) While wearing my Jayne hat and shirt. I’d love to take him to a shooting range sometime.

I recall reading that Sigorney Weaver didn’t want to be using a gun in Aliens, but was convinced it was OK because she would be shooting monsters and not people.

Too bad some of the worst real-life monsters are people…

Sounds like her character in Avatar wasn’t that far off from the real deal…

I don’t mind because I like Sigourney Weaver as an actress.

I also don’t typically judge whether I like someone or not based on their pro/anti gun stance, unless they are hardcore one way or the other.

That’s unfortunate because they sure as fuck are judging you based on your views about firearms.

True, but hey, I don’t really give a fuck anyways.

If you go here http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0185819/bio#quotes you can find this quote
“I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other. That’s a simple fact. I’ve seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that’s what’s scary about them.”

It sounds like a ludite trying to understand a new technology. I have a friend that hates the internet and when he describes why he doesn’t use it he sounds just like that.

When Craig was making Casino Royale I read an article about him. in the article he stated, very strongly, that he was very anti-gun and that he was doing all the Bond gun scenes “tongue-in-cheek”. Just confirmed for me that while the high and mighty actors have their morals and values, they can all lay them aside for a paycheck.
I love the Bond films, but I refuse to watch them as long as that jackass is in them. Plus he’s the worst Bond so far.

And this was my favorite freddiew movie so far.

What a fucking dick. I hate the way he described the way he acted while doing the gun scenes. Fucking arrogant shit head.

Here’s what I don’t get though…for being a staunchy anti-gun actor…he plays the James Bond who’s shot the most people so far, and used a gun the most, IIRC.

When is Freddie gonna get his own feature length action movie? Has he said anything about doing one?

hey, pretty good little movie. Looks like transformers with the semi.
Where are the Desert Eagle and Wildey semi-auto pistols?
They also needed a mini-gun (like in Predator).
