AR-15 Varsity Letterman Jacket – ENDO Apparel

Represent the ubiquitous AR-15 rifle in style this fall/winter:

The shirts turned out to be popular, so I figure branching the ENDO Apparel lineup out into various other types of clothing and accessories is the next logical step.

The jackets are made in USA 24 oz. melton wool, with genuine leather arms, knit collar/cuffs/bottom hem, and quilted lining.  Decorated with made in USA chenille patches with double felt backing and embroidered detail.  For those of you unfamiliar with varsity letterman jackets, they are normally sold by schools to students, so they can show off their accolades, sports affiliations, club memberships, and interests.

Make sure to check out the product page on ENDO Apparel for more pictures and detail.

What do you guys think?

I am very aware that the $425 price tag is not going to be for everyone.  I wish there was a way to show each and every one of you one of the jackets in person, because they really are very impressive.   If you look around at various varsity letterman jackets you’ll see a wide price range, with jackets typically starting at around a few hundred dollars all the way up to several thousand for a custom brand name jacket.  I assure you that these ENDO apparel custom jackets fall into that upper tier.

Getting the jackets made was the easy part.  Scouring the globe for the most handsome model to represent ENDO apparel, gathering all the obscure things he requested in his contract, putting up with his idiosyncrasies, and paying his exorbitant fee was the difficult part.  I kid, I kid… that’s me in the side picture.

Note:  If I made fun of you or your company in a post, and you never knew what I looked like from my few YouTube vids.  I’d prefer that picture not be blown up and used as a target, or as reference to call me an asshole if you see me SHOT or elsewhere. :P

I’m currently accepting orders, and will ship worldwide.  Shipping in the USA & Canada is free, but anywhere else $20 extra.

If you’re looking for a size that I don’t have, or want a particular customization, make sure to email me and i’ll try to accommodate you!

Make sure to subscribe to the ENDO Apparel mailing list for updates.  You can also stalk me on twitter @ENDOapparel , and like the ENDO Apparel Facebook page.

I really appreciate all your continued support.

  1. Normally I just lurk, but I have to say that this is VERY NICE Mike.

Such a nice jacket… but $425 is a lot of ammo too haha

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Thanks. No doubt on the ammo part.

  3. Not for me. The only person is wearing letterman jackets, play football in high school.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Maybe only out in the country. Non school related Letterman jackets are big in cities.

      1. Non school related Letterman jackets are big in cities.

With whom? These type of jackets are so tacky I’m not sure many high school students even wear them anymore!

        1. Maybe the marching band kids…

        2. ENDO-Mike Avatar

“Gangster rapper wanabees” like you said in your other comment. You need to get out more Josh.

          1. You need to get out more Josh.

I don’t want to be out in a world where adults think it’s cool to wear letter jackets!

I like the shirts and look forward to seeing the next designs. But this and the shirts are all novelty items, and anyone that would pay $400+ for this jacket has much more money than good sense or taste. I would honestly be surprised if anyone ordered one of these.

            1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

You’re entitled to your opinion and that’s fine you don’t like the jacket, whether it be at $425 or at even If I had priced it at $50. I’m not knocking the Midwest, but what’s cool in NYC, LA, Chicago, etc.. is a lot different from trends and styles in Iowa. The bottom line is, whether you know it or not, letterman jackets are timeless and will remain prevalent in urban fashion.

Whether I get no orders or several thousand orders it makes zero difference because as you can see they are made to order.

              1. I won’t disagree with anything you said there, but I guess I’ll never understand “urban fashion.” I guess I’m the old fashioned type who would rather stand out in a crowd because people are thinking, “That’s a good looking suit,” as opposed to thinking, “What the fuck is that jacket he’s wearing.”

You’re right though, I don’t know what the prevalent urban fashion is in NYC or LA. Frankly, I’m sure I don’t want to know what is considered fashionable there; but, then again, I’m someone who prefers not to stick out like a ridiculously dressed sore thumb.

I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful or pick on you; I was just voicing my opinion. The jacket just seems over the top. I can understand someone wearing it to a gun show maybe – in the same way that someone who owns a Ferrari might wear a Ferrari jacket to a car show. But, it seems like (to me) that it would be the only place that it would make sense to wear it, and at that price, it doesn’t seem realistic to me. I think it would be ridiculous to wear it out in public as just a jacket to keep you warm. Then again, I’m a guy who clearly doesn’t understand “urban fashion,” and who thinks that pants should be worn at waist level, not around your thighs, and who thinks that baseball caps should be worn with the bill facing forward to keep the sun out of your eyes, not cocked 90 degrees to the side. So what do I know?

And I realize that it doesn’t matter if anyone orders them or not because they’re made to order. I trust that you have good enough sense to not invest in producing something like this without having definite orders for it. I think that, whether you’re willing to admit it or not, you know that this is not going to be a popular item. The gawdiness and price makes this one a tough sell.

Don’t hate me; I’ve been proudly sporting the select fire shirt you sent me, and gladly explain what it means and where it came from whenever someone asks me about it. :)

            2. YOU SHUT YOUR STUPID FACE I HAPPEN TO LIKE THE JACKET!

EVERYDAY NO DAYS OFF, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!

      2. Just like ARs are big in the cities?

        1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Sure, why not? Millions of people in major cities across the US own AR-15s.

  4. …well at least it’s not a members only style jacket. I’m surprised there isn’t pom-poms on it. Maybe you could change the letters so it says “RA-15” then it would stand for “REALLY AWESOME!” Ok, I’ll shut up now. Pass on the jacket.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

      hahha

  5. Like the T-shirts. Jacket….uhhh, I’ll just keep my opinions to myself. And that’s not factoring in the price.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

ha alright well there are more t-shirts coming soon.

      1. I really want the jacket but how come it’s so expensive?

I’m not complaining or trying to imply anything, but what during the production process makes it cost so much?

        1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Made in USA always is going to be higher because we pay more for labor here. Besides that, melton wool isn’t cheap, nor is leather, or custom chenillle patches. All of that together ends up being a lot more than If I would have just had some chinese vinyl windbreaker with screen printing on it for sale.

  6. I can only picture lousy gangsta rapper wannabes wearing this. I think you may have jumped the shark with the Endo Apparel venture with this jacket!

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

hahaha jumped the shark. There’s more T-shirts and other stuff to come don’t worry.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I think that your jacket is neat, but I do not like it, but I think it is good for you to make.

Thanks. Yea it’s not for everyone.

The price point hurts. That’s a down payment on a gun (or a new/used handgun).

That and I wouldn’t wear it in public. Might as well be open carrying. I generally only wear that kinda stuff at gun shows or at the range.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

You’d be surprised how few people know what an AR-15 is. Most people think that boltface is a “gear” and have no idea what the rest of it means. People that are into guns obviously should know though.

      1. An AR-15? Is that, like, a semiautomatic machine-gun assault weaponthat can hold fifteen clips in its stock?

        1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Yea it can shoot down police helicopters, and isn’t detected by metal detectors either.

          1. ZOMG MSNBC WAS RIGHT!

  9. meh….stick to t-shirts.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I won’t be, but thanks for the comment!

  10. I like it, but I’m too old to wear something that flashy. I can see it being popular with the younger crowd even if they don’t own guns an just play COD.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

      Thanks.

  11. You know, I’d like to get one if not for the sheer S&G’s factor of walking into my children’s schools and seeing how many teachers realize just what my jacket is talking about. But that price point is a definite pain point. My RHCE exam will cost that much, and I could buy a couple of servers for RHCE study for that kind of bread.

Priorities and decisions, damn. Oh, and Mike, I showed the article to one of my former-Air Force co-workers and his first question was “what’s that on the right breast?” :)

    1. And in thinking about it a bit further, if I could get it for around $150-$200 and without the cartridges on the left sleeve, I’d be all over it. I’d buy one just for the laugh factor when someone makes a comment about what team I play(ed) for.

      1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I wish I could go down that low in price. Probably could if I got a chinese made vinyl sleeved jacket with chinese made patches.

        1. I completely understand and admire you for sticking to an American production process and high quality materials for it.

If you were able to come down in the price (say change from wool to cotton/canvas a la Carhartt) and (preferably) keep sourcing it from an American shop, drop me an e-mail as I’d be good for at least one. Maybe give one to my wife and see how many of her co-workers ask about her “Gear” jacket too.

          1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I’ll keep that in mind Pyro, thanks!

    2. ENDO-Mike Avatar

haha yea most people I encountered think it’s a “gear”.

  12. Flashy, but I would buy one at half the price.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Wish I could offer them at ~200. :/

  13. I pictured you tipping the scales at 400lbs+ with bad acne and cokebottle glasses. (like http://www.retrosection.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/fat-man-at-computer.jpg) I suppose I was wrong.

I don’t like the jacket at the price. Around $200ed you would have me getting one.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

LOL sorry to ruin your mental picture Lorenzo.

I wish I could offer them at ~$200.

  14. No bullet patch and less $$$. Way less. And I thought the shirts were expensive!

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I could get it made without the cartridge patch. The price isn’t going to be any less though.

If I used some average sandpaper undershirt quality brand like Hanes I could sell shirts at $12-$20. American Apparel is levels above Hanes.

  15. i like the design. just make sure you have an actual market before production. i dont know anyone over 16 who wears a letter jacket. and cant think of many 16 year olds who know what an ar15 are and would pay 425. can you convert this into a $50-65 hoodie/ shooting jacket? i think you’d grow your market and profit exponentially

    1. Believe me…16 year olds know what an AR15 is. It’s on Black Ops dude :-)

      1. Rey Solis Avatar

Are they? It’s been a long time since I played black ops but I don’t think AR15 was an option. M16 and M4 maybe. But not AR15.

    2. ENDO-Mike Avatar

The jackets are made to order, so that’s not a concern. I’m considering hoodies, but i’ll have to find something else to put on them, as the chenille patches are not machine washable.

  16. Josh Lowe Avatar

Looks good, but too expensive. I can picture “What team/sport/school is that for?” being a nagging question from most people. That’s good though because without the cartridges it flys under the radar. Some people might not even realize those are cartridges if they don’t knw what the rest of the jacket means.

    1. “What team/sport/school is that for?”

      Arizona Rugby
      Arms Running
      Arizona Republic
Armenian Rugby (I believe it’s Armenia’s national colors)
      Alberta Rifleball

      :)

      1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

haha i’ll have to remember those. ;)

    2. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Thanks Josh. Yes I know it’s not pocket change, but you get what you pay for.

Yea the “team sport school” question is probably another one i’ll encounter more often. Outside of a gun store I don’t think very many people put 2 and 2 together and realize it’s a gun/shooting related jacket.

  17. Rich Graham and THE LAV (to name a few) will use that picture to track you down. I expected blurry face or black bar over the eyes to keep OP-SEC.

    1. I, for one, am offended that you would DARE imply that Rich Graham is so petty as to seek out vengeance. The man is a paragon of virtue, who wishes nothing but goodwill and health to each and every single man, woman, and child. Graham doesn’t hate us, he pities us for not seeing the light in regards to his one and only true path towards firearms salvation. But it’s not too late, you can convert, we all can.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

    2. ENDO-Mike Avatar

hahah yea I’m slippin. Lucky my body double and 12 car caravan I roll with will throw them off.

  18. Oh yea and the jacket is O.K. but Id rather buy another gun or some ammo.

Clown shoes. Casual wear for the mall ninja.

    1. Clown shoes? I love it. I can’t remember the last time I heard someone reference Jay and Silent Bob, and that’s sad; they deserve more references!

    2. ENDO-Mike Avatar

ROFL. Just don’t spit gum on my mall floor or i’ll have to pull the zip ties out of the pouch on my segway, take you in and call your mom.

  20. You never go full retard.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I didn’t… according to well over half of you I overflowed and spilled “retard” all over the ground too. Big difference. hehe

  21. I like it despite the price. Haters gonna hate.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Thanks Danny. *shrug* You’re right, haters are definitely going to hate.

  22. Definitely not my type of jacket, although i did purchase the “No Right To Bear Arms” shirt. Not sure who would wear such an ugly jacket. I dont think ive ever seen anyone wear this style jacket unless they’re in high school or reliving their high school years. Yes i do live in a city and yes i do get out a lot.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Fair enough. Ever heard of Louis Vuitton, Crooks & Castles, HUF, BAPE, Supreme, Mitchell & Ness..? I could go on all day. The varsity jacket will never go out of style. That’s fine if you don’t like my particular “take” on it.

  23. retro_joe Avatar

I like it but would probably prefer something more subtle (without the cartridge and 5.56×45 patches).

I agree that a good jacket is worth every penny. I broke down and started paying for Filson and Barbour jackets a few years ago and wish I’d spent the money years ago. Each one will last several decades instead of a few years. Until you see and wear a $400 jacket you don’t understand where that money goes. Like the difference between an Auto Ordinance 1911 and a Kimber 1911.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

$400 jacket you don’t understand where that money goes

You hit the nail on the head with that line. Same goes for expensive shoes, belts, watches etc..

If someone didn’t want one or more of the patches, I just wouldn’t put it/them on the jacket.

  24. Come on mike, ALL I WANT IS A POLO, not some jacket. Looks badass though.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Someday Andrew! People will just complain about that too.
“Why is it in black, i’d buy it if it was in grey”
“Why is the embroidery on the left side? and why is it red?”
“What did you use helvetica? I like Comic Sans better” hahah etc… it’s relentless. People are going to love or hate anything and everything I put out.

      1. Black polo, clean lines for work wear, red embroidery? Put me down for two!

        1. Rey Solis Avatar

Agree 100% with Pyro. Even black with white embroidery. Take a look at Magpul, Glock, Ruger… They all have good color combos. After reading a lot of the comments, it looks like quite a few of your readers might wear the occasional polo. My self included if it looks right.

          1. It seems a lot of shooters are going that way. A polo and tactical pants appears to be the new uniform of the subtle civilian operator!

I think it has to do with all the cool jerseys the sponsored competitors wear. Regular shooters not sexy enough to get sponsored want something similar so they go for a polo.

  25. It has a nice look too it, but it’s too gaudy for my personal tastes.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Understandable. The jacket is meant to be loud.

  26. I want to get just the bolt face patch. You should sell morale patches now that I think of it!!!

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I’d maybe consider selling the patches separately some day… but people would just complain about the cost of those too.

On the morale patches, maybe someday. I wouldn’t want to get into that unless I knew the order volume would be high though. Seems like a saturated market.

  27. Mike, perhaps less flash. Like your tshirts, which are outstanding, I think if this jacket wasn’t a letterman jacket but more along the lines of one of those wool or flannel lined hooded carhartt jackets with one or two SUBTLE designs on it. The bolt face is great but is on arfcom apparel. A clever angle view of an AR15 designed into it (embroidered is better than patches IMHO) would be plenty..then maybe a slogan. THink of the great designing that went into the successful infidel (written in arabic) apparel and come up with an AR15 likeness. The professional door kicker design copied from MLB is great. I bet you can come up with a good viral design and throw it on shirts, hats, and jackets and get stupid rich. You obviously have the means and time it seems. Git ‘er done. And sorry for baggin’ on your jacket earlier. I’ll submit that there’s not enough cool zombie themed gear out there…just don’t make the mistake of using an actual zombie graphic…hazmat or biohazzard designs have lots of potential…you just need the catch phrase…and the graphic of the end of an M4 barrel with a2 FSB and birdcage barking out flames would be great.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I’m not one to knock someones style, because really it makes no difference to me what other people wear or don’t wear. Personally I wouldn’t wear carhartt, nor do I think the “infidel” designs are at all clever or even slightly wearable. Major League Doorkicker is neat, but the bastardization of the MLB logo is played out if you ask me. Zombie stuff on clothing.. again not for me. Hazmat, biohazard designs eeeeehhhhhh not for me either. That’s not to say I’d bash someone for wearing any one of those.

The ENDO Apparel items you see now, and the ones you’ll see in the future is MY style. You might hate everything from now on that I come out with, or you might like almost all of it. I’d prefer everyone like everything I do, but that’s obviously not going to happen. The shirts are so far selling really well, but if that changes in the future or no one likes some of my designs *shrug* I guess I’ll give more shirts away to friends and family, or else i’ll have some expensive rags. Either way I enjoy the creative process and have a blast coming up with new items.

      1. I’m not saying to adopt their style, but to evolve your style into something really clever and sellable like those things. Your t-shirts are a great start and I’m interested in their evolution and would probably buy one once I’m done goobering my new AK47.

  30. I love it Mike! I am planning/planning/praying to get the cabbage. As you said, priorities. I am in the middle of paying for a full auto, mags, ammo to feed that beast. I also believe that standard Mr/Mrs America have no idea what it is. I get asked a lot what is the M-16 selector on the shirt I bought from you (love it- very comfy and soft). I hope to order the bear soon too- very subtle design.

Keep up the great work and “stick to your guns” on american made.

    1. ENDO-Mike Avatar

Thanks Richard! Glad you like the Selector Switch shirt.

Right on. I’m going to continue with American made products as long as someone here can produce them!

  32. I like the design and it looks to be high quality but unfortunately it seems I only see dooshbags wearing letter jackets anymore. No disrespect to you mike, I’m just saying I wish the style would go back into fashion with non dooshbags so I could wear something like this. Keep in mind I’m in the middle of the country so maybe trends are different elsewhere.

Keep up the endo apparel! I am loving the designs!

    1. Dontshootmebro Avatar
      Dontshootmebro

“dooshbags”? Spell check that bad boy.

    2. ENDO-Mike Avatar

I follow fashion blogs, read urban magazines, watch award shows etc.. and all the big names are still wearing them. I see a lot on regular people too. You’re right though, fashion differs drastically in different areas of the country. You should bring the style back for non-douchebags in your locale. :P

Glad your’re liking ENDO Apparel as a whole. You can expect some more new products soon.

  33. I like it. Given the amount of high schools in the area there’s alot of people that wear them, and I find them fairly comfortable. Overall, IMO, it looks great. I’d get one but…money. $400+ is kinda put of my range. But you do get what you pay for.

  34. BrenT10 Avatar

I like the jacket. I agree with you Endo that varsity jackets are here to stay. $400+ is out of my price range but im sure you’ll sell them at that.
