Holding It Sideways For Props

Only in the movies…

You get no respect at the range trying that even as a joke.  Ask me how I know? :P

For those of you too old to know what “props” means… urban dictionary it or something.

Some of you guys might be interested in a show called How To Make It In America starring the guy in the suit (Bryan Greenberg).  The new season starts up October 2nd and I’m pretty pumped.   Besides Bryan Greenberg, it’s got Luis Guzman, Lake Bell, Kid Cudi etc… and it’s produced by HBO so you really can’t go wrong.

If you need to catch up on Season 1 you can buy it at Amazon – HERE

Had a competition at the range when I first got my Glock 17. We did half the magazine normal and the other half holding it to the side. One of the cranky old guys there was NOT impressed because apparently fun (even if its safe) and guns cannot mix. I suppose he’s probably seen a lot of unsafe behavior, but we were doing controlled fire and they were still hitting the paper so meh.

      1. Good God I HATE cranky senior citizens at gun ranges. I was once yelled at by a group of old dudes at the range I frequent, ’cause I was “rapid firing” with my AR-15.

Apparently, pulling the trigger every three seconds, the fastest we’re allowed to fire is one every two seconds, constitutes rapid fire. I wouldn’t mind it so much, but the guys in-question are there, like, everyday, and they ALWAYS bring black-powder rifles. I think in all the times I’ve been there I’ve only seen ’em shoot twice, and they treat the range like some sort oldie social hangout, and get uber pissed if someone dares to interrupt their chatting with gunfire. Well what the FUCK did you guys expect? You’re at a goddamn gun-range!

hahah that’s exactly what happens with the old guys at the range I used to go to also. It was basically an old timers social club.

      See my reply to poppy!

  3. Sadly, after seeing most movies made today I have a feeling this is more real than parody.

I sometimes handle firearms in production and I felt the pain in this video. It’s possible to correct an actor’s behavior when you catch them doing something stupid with a weapon or piece of gear, but often your grasp on reality will be countermanded by the director thinking that something “looks cool.” Last month I instructed an actor on how to convincingly wield a FIM-92 Stinger only to have the director come over and say that he thought the launcher looked cooler with the “thingy” folded. The “thingy” in question was the sight, which he thought looked “cooler” in the non-operational position.

Mt step-brother tried that with an AMT 1911, it would have been fine with the p38 or something, but doing it with a high-powered pistol, with which you were unfamiliar? Bad Idea.

He slightly injured his wrist, and almost dropped it. Good work Dom.
