Battlefield 3 Trailer & FPS Simulator

Some multiplayer gameplay footage:

An INSANE $650,000 simulator built to play the game:

A four by nine meter video dome surrounds the player as they stand on an omni-directional treadmill that lets you walk wherever you want to go. Ten infra-red motion tracking cameras and a sensor on your gun enables the picture to follow where you point it and a Kinect hack controls your jumping and crouching. The fun doesn’t stop there — 12 paintball markers mean that every time you get shot in the game, you’ll feel it.

Nuts… lots more pictures and info over at Engadget.

FPS simulators still have a long way to go, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.   Thoughts?

  1. Oh, you silly Brits, building super-expensive simulators in the hopes of feeling what it’s like to fire a real gun.

    1. Hah, that was my first thought, too.

If only there were some kind of sport out there that allows Her Majesty’s subjects to shoot assault rifles, combat shotguns and defensive sidearms against a variety of targets in a stress-filled, competitive and above all, safe environment.

      If only…

Brits? The simulator is made in Sweden.

      1. Don’t care. I’ll take any excuse to bash the British.

        CHESAPEAKE BAY. NEVER FORGET!

As a hard core gamer, I don’t care who built it. If I could visit a facility and pay to play on this simulator, that would be awesome.

  2. I WANT

  3. I’ll take six.

The paintball guns are kinda overkill.

Cherry bombs, to make sure the “player” gets the maximum PTSD possible.

I’m more surprised with their singleplayer trailer.
Screw MW3 singleplayer I’m saving my extra $50

  6. I like how the commercials show all this awesome combat and fast action. The real game plays much more like this.
