R. Lee Ermey’s Glock Ads

Somebody picked the wrong house:

Pretty big fail when he pulls the G17 out of the safe, and it has the trigger depressed (0:17).   Not a lot of good that will do!   Kind of a big thing to overlook when your target market is people that know guns.

Somebody picked the wrong diner:

I hope Gunny takes some time out to enjoy his old age, and not just be one of those guys that will continue to work until the day he dies!

All the appearances etc. that he does must get pretty exhausting.

I wonder if Glock needs a hype man? I should apply.

  1. I’m pretty sure “safe storage” recommendations for guns are that they not be loaded (mag in) let alone one in the pipe. You and I know that’s nonsense, but I think Glock marketing is just following responsible-ness. The chambering sound at the end is either a trademark noise since it’s found in both commercials, or it’s intended to complete the home defense “pre-stalk” theme. Either way, it’s a great set of commercials that I’m sure will evolve into torture tests and testimonials as R Lee Ermy’s presense in them gets old. Frankly, I’d like to see a few more Geico commercials with him in them.

    1. They are called paragraphs, try them they work.

Love the Gunny, didn’t figure him for such a small caliber firearm, though. Now a shotgun…

granted, these commercials are a bit goofy…

but I remember watching Gunny on the History Channel as a kid and having bucket-loads of respect for the man, guess I can forgive him for these and his other ‘tired’ testimonials

Epic fail that you didnt notice the sound of the gun being racked @ 0:28. I like your content but its getting to be a bit condisending and judgemental.

If it’s only a BIT condescending and judgmental I must be slipping.

I heard it, but I guess what the video is telling us is that only police are allowed to have one in the pipe before they actually need it. Loading the gun as soon as you need it is one more thing you’ll probably forget or mess up in a stressful situation. Things like this are bound to happen: https://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2009/12/17/still-think-its-a-good-idea-to-carry-in-condition-3/

It’s bad enough he has to get into the safe when someone could be coming at him.

    2. Here here. I think we all may be getting a bit too much of the “you tube commentator-itus”

  4. I rather like these and I hope he does more of them and that they get major air play.

  5. He was a big draw at the NRA convention. He’s a great PR guy.

  6. Is that statistic actually true? (65% of LEOs uses glocks)

    1. Glock deep-discounts for departmental sales and has an aggressive product-placemet department, so while I don’t know if that figure is accurate it wouldn’t surprise me.

      Not in Charlotte they dont.

They all carry S&W autos (I believe) or maybe they are Cx4 .40s. Either way, they’ve stopped carrying glock 22s.

  7. I dunno bout you, but I kinda think this is how he enjoys his old age.

I still enjoy seeing him in movies and commercials.

One must keep busy or the brain will die.

    1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a hat on, except in Firebase Gloria.

Other than that, very awesome video. If I didn’t sleep like a log more than half the time, I’d probably react the same way.

  9. Boys, keep in mind there is probably a very nervious to be “safe” marketing dept. That is causing these little issues.

Frankly, after watching how the Gunny has helped bring guns back into the norm for the masses, and his sometimes goofy sense of humor, I belive he has earned a pass from some of the snark, no?

  10. I believe Gunny to be real stand-up guy. Smiling the whole time, he stayed late to speak with, have his picture with and sign autographs for everyone that was in line at the Glock booth at the NRA convention even after the rest of the show closed for the night. Apparently he also really appreciates firearms too, during his breaks he was in other merchant’s booths checking out the guns.

  11. I like the commercials. Gunny cracks me up and as long as he is healthy and able to do something in the entertainment field, I hope he continues. ‘Tis a sad day when we put our elderly out to pasture. Good for him to keep active.

  12. The proper way to store a Glock of any caliber is with an empty chamber.

    The magazine full of Corbons

    and

The trigger depressed to show an empty chamber that needs to be filled from the magazine.

  13. The only way to store a glock is fully loaded and one in the tube at all times. It keeps the dirt out.
