I don’t have any strong feelings about this, good or bad. On one hand the fact human beings pissed on the dead bodies of other human beings is revolting, but on the other hand these people were trying to kill them, so that makes it justifiable in my mind.
Understandably this is a public relations nightmare for the USMC. If anything i’d prefer stuff like this didn’t get filmed and shown to the entire world because terrorists will only use it as fuel for their burning hate for the United States.

These people will most likely be Dishonorably Discharged if politics got any say in it and will be up there as ex-Marines. It’s a PR nightmare for the USMC, but honestly can give two shits what the Islamics think of us. We’ve been on their shit list since 1801 when we first sent our Navy and Marines to the Barbary states. And the whole of Western civilization when we laughed at their wanting to submit to them and then we kicked them off Spain.
And the whole Islam kept up science bit also falls apart when it was the Copts and Jews who did the work and the Catholic Church who kept Latin alive long enough for us to rediscover Roman philosophers.
Maybe my thinking on this is just orthogonal to most people’s, but I can’t imagine a scenario in which the act of urinating on someone is more offensive than the act of killing them.
No commentator I’ve read has objected to the killings, so on what grounds do they object to the urination?

I’m disappointed but not offended. Had they been shooting at me or had the shot one of my buddies I might even be compelled to do as they’ve done in the video.

My old man was posted down in Guantanamo shortly after 9/11, he told us a story of how some enlisted guys had the idea to catch, barbecue, and eat some of these huge iguanas that are everywhere (which is illegal on the US part of the island). Not so bad I guess… Except these morons took pictures… Not that stupid I guess, if you were careful with the pics… What was stupid was having them developed on base, which got them reported!
That’s where I’m disappointed really. No pictures/tape, no proof.

I think it’s ignorant and unprofessional. Maybe I just care about my countrymen putting their best impression of the rest of us out to the world. Do I really care that they did it? No. I’m disappointed that they recorded and distributed footage of it happening. It’s like when some ignorant gun owner (Cokeman comes to mind) records the ignorant shit he does and then distributes it. It embarrasses the rest of us associated with him. I like to think we are over there to win over the hearts and minds of the population, to enable them to live as we do, and most importantly, to make them actually want to be like us. This is now how you do that. It’s counter productive.

I blame the media for this bullshit they love to make soldiers look bad.. although wrong in what they did its not even close to what these cowards (terrorists) do to our civilians and soldiers. Id rather be pissed on or made to be in pictures then having my head cut off or strung on a bridge.
I guess Lt.Col. Allen is right. We don’t know what they’ve been through, and they have to ease up some times, even if it’s in a dumb way…
These guys are more stupid (1st-doing it, which is useless to say the least, they’re already dead, go get some others!, 2nd-filming it, 3rd- letting the cameraman go with it) than disrespectful, and to my knowledge it’s not a crime to be stupid (thank God, we could never build jails large enough…)
And the enemies won’t treat them better/worse if they act all gentlemen and stuff…
This reminds me of a liveleak video of some mujahadeen fighters beheading several soviet POWs, and then parading around with the heads. Makes this look like a tea party.
This is another example of why the USA is declining… Politicians are no longer concerned with doing the right thing, or supporting the right causes. The politicians sent our military over there, where they are subjected to torture and worse.
