16 In The Quiver And One In The Bow

This girl is about to make some bodies turn cold:

She even holds her bow at 45 degrees like a gangster.  Because of that I know Iza Privezenceva will regulate anyone that steps to her.

I wouldn’t want to be the camera man at 40+ seconds.  Iza should know better though because shes violating a cardinal rule of bow & arrow safety.

  1. All bows are always loaded
  2. Never let the arrow cover anything you are not willing to destroy
  3. Keep your strong hand from pulling back the string until your eyes are on target
  4. Be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.

It’s pretty clear we have to ban high capacity assault quivers, and automatic assault bows.

Thoughts?

I dunno Mike, assault clips, high-capacity strings and shaft shrouds are pretty bad, but bows are pretty dangerous in of themselves. We should just ban everything altogether, do you know how many children have been murdered just by unloaded bows?

Anyone know what the best shaft weight is for concealed carry? I usually carry 7.4 grains per inch but some people say anything less than 8.9 grains per inch is worthless.

Also, where’s the best place to buy carbon-fiber arrows? I hear Obama is going to ban them.

I used to be a camera man like him, then I took an arrow to the knee.

I am both humbled and ashamed that I did not manage to think that up and post it first. Bravo sir, bravo.

Is it my imagination, or is there a “dead Mongol’s click” at 1:14?

Reply

Vhyrus January 27, 2012 at 03:34 am

Can you explain what you mean? I hear a click but I have no idea what a dead mongols click is.

Julio January 27, 2012 at 07:30 am

Maybe it’s a Brit thing, but a “dead man’s click” is the result of not counting your rounds when using a magazine-fed weapon. Thankfully, for most of us, the outcome of such a lack of concentration when shooting is not death but merely mild embarrassment.

At 1:14 Iza goes to take an arrow from an empty quiver. So: there’s no actual “click” and Iza isn’t a man; but, as the style of archery she’s practising was originated by Mongol cavalry, and the effect is the same, it seemed like a fair way to use/modify the phrase.

Thinking back to my archery days, the 45deg hold is probably due to the lack of an arrow “shelf” on the particular bow design she has, so it makes it easier to align the arrow on the bow/string by resting the arrow shaft on her hand, which, in turn, is easier by holding the bow sideways.

Since she is using blunted arrows, her accuracy is hard to gauge, but it seems as though she is more accurate and faster than most people using handguns and moving like that would be. But guns need to be banned!

I agree with the 45 degree observation. Clearly that bow has no shelf, so the cant is to consistently place the shaft on her left hand. Tough hands to do all that with no glove or tab. Also, I’ve shot for several years and haven’t encountered anyone that holds ths string with the hand upside down like that.

Ah yea that makes sense!

I wouldn’t want to get on her bad side unless we were in a wind storm.

I’d be that good too, if I could practice full speed in the gym.

I thought a skill like this was only possible in Lord of the Rings with the assist of “movie magic”. I had no idea this was actually possible to achieve.

Why would anyone need a quiver that holds 16 arrows?!??!?

Yea, shes probably practicing to shoot down police helicopters.

Her accuracy, near is I can judge, was far below what a bow should do at that range. Never fire faster than you can shoot accurately. Other question, what is the draw weight of that bow? I doubt it is much more than a practice bow with a low draw weight.

Not taking a way from her obvious skills, but they are less than impressive all things considered.

bigghoss January 27, 2012 at 02:08 pm

I was wondering what the draw weight was also. I bet it’s pretty low if she can crank off arrows that fast with a backwards grip on the string. With the right heads on the arrows I’m sure it’s still lethal to about the effective range of most pistol shooters though.

The speed is the only impressive thing here, the shooting otherwise is pretty average.

The cock arm (upside down hand) isn’t too bad strength wise. Very popular hinge/BT release position for compound shooting. In terms of recurve/traditional shooting, it’s poor accuracy wise.

Because of the speed she’s doing it, there’s no form or consistency in her shooting- she’s shooting with the kind of accuracy to be expected from a beginner with zero experience and equipment not set up correctly for them.

Keep in mind, people, Iza is an exhibition shooter for reenactments/demonstrations, not marksmanship. Her group does what they do for entertainment, not competition. Plus she’s adorable, and I won’t have anyone running her down ;)
