I made a rail attachment once that interfaced with the standard 1/4-20 threads that most cameras and tripods have. It did get some awesome shots, but the problem was my camera sucked and recoil would knock it out of focus if trying to shoot video. $30, someone beat me to market haha.
I once built a crappy laser microphone out of a laser sight, (and some other stuff) ran it through a mic-preamp and got it all contained (somewhat) inside an airsoft glock 18c. That hollow back strap is REALLY useful.
However the photocell pick up required some work to get positioned right (every use), so it wasent quite like splinter cell.

Is it REALLY that hard to mount a camera on a 4 foot tripod and shoot over it?
yeah but then there is shot transition for multiple targets, gotta catch it all… tho gun mounted cameras provide horrible video.. the recoil doesn’t make it much fun to watch.
That’d be my concern…try watching some of the GoPro filmed karting videos on Youtube. The asphalt stuff is bearable, but the dirt races tend to shake…a lot. They are helmet or rollbar mounted, but the out of focus dizzying shake you see when the track gets bumpy is pretty damned realistic. It’ll also make the average observer slightly motion sick. That being said, I can’t imagine a on-weapon mount without some sort of isolators built in will produce a viewer-friendly result.
If you write for a print mag, your layout people will REALLY appreciate good quality png:s. Not that you usually get them. So don’t knock it :).
What bothers me about these images is the finger on the trigger when obviously NOT shooting. But maybe that’s just me.
Yea, huge PNGs are nice for print/design or anything else non internet based. Someone that makes websites should know that web != paper , and 3.6MB file sizes for pictures are no where near acceptable!

I run a gopro here in Afghanistan. I have it attached to the side of my helmet. I have used it setup to look over my shoulder with a small gorilla pod and also tried their NVG mount (did not like that at all). A few of my buddies run contours on their helmet. The contours are smaller, but they do less than gopros. I would not put either of them on a handgun though, rifle or shotgun yes. But not a handgun, it looks pretty stupid.

Personally, I’d attach that bad boy to a Barret M82(Or is it M107 now?) and get some target practice, AND have a Badazz vid to prove how awesome (Or not) I am.
I often wear my GoPro when I shoot steel and trap. It makes a great video. The more progun videos we can flood Facebook and YouTube with is a win for all of us.
i bought the picatinny attachment they make, and it pretty much sucked out of the box… i had to take off a bunch of material just to get it to slide onto a standard rail, then once i got it on there and supposedly locked down.. .the damn thing came loose after 3 shots of 50 beowulf. this glock one is a neat idea but i dunno if itll work in practice.

This is Yanne with Strikemark. First, I apologize your mount wasn’t up to snuff. “Standard rail” is a bit of a misnomer though. We test our mounts on four different supposedly “standard” picatinny rail systems that are all Mil-Std from different manufacturers when we design and QA these mounts -and they all fit differently believe it or not. Some manufacturers powder coat their rails, coat them in ceramic, anodize them, etc. Its a tough mark to hit when you’re creating a standardized product that’s supposed to fit on a product that 1000 different manufacturers are making and that are all supposed to be the same. In any case, back to your mount not being up to par -you might have had one of our earlier versions. PM me at icr@strikemark.com with your name and mailing address. I’ll lookup your old order and send you out our latest and greatest…better fit, anodized, laser etched. Redemption time.

You can aim at your targets, shoot’em, an get the picture proving you’re a sharpshooter. Maybe work out something with a little aimpoint on the lens, so that when you see the pic, you get where you’d have hit with a real Glock.
Otherwise just attach it to your helmet/goggles/whatever…

This gives me an idea. What if someone were to make a rail mounted flashlight/laser/video camera combo. It could be used by police departments to record all police shootings to determine if a shoot was good or bad and to use as a training video for other officers down the line.
A few of those type of systems do exist, they are fairly bulky though. Here’s actually a head mounted camera that seems to be a better idea https://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2010/04/05/head-mounted-police-cameras/ it’s not THAT big, and the quality looks decent.

Ya know, I would be willing to let my property taxes go up if my local agency would make cameras like that mandatory and make the video available to the public for review (of course not for undercover officers). Police corruption/abuse/brutality/misconduct would end overnight if cops knew that when they were on duty, the whole town was literally looking over their shoulders and watching what they are doing.

Burris / legend tech thought so after me and came out with the “Pistol Cam” (Now also defunct)
I had federal officers yell at me at FPED because I was selling such a thing, telling me they would “never put a %$^&*^% camera on their guns”! The new Looxcie 10hr cam has promise, I just bought one to see how well it works.
