This one has some big names backing to it too (20th Century Fox, Tim Burton). Looks pretty high budget, but who knows if that will make up for going full retard on the story line. Either way, it’s bound to be better than those Osama Bin Laden Zombie movies.
It’s a shame Abraham Lincoln isn’t hunting those fairies from Twilight. Now that would make for a good Vampire hunter movie.

Trailer shows the Washington Memorial, which was not completed during Lincoln’s lifetime. I wonder if that’s an oversight or if we’re dealing with a little time travel.

The book deals with two time frames, the modern one in which Lincoln’s personal journals are discovered and the 1800’s via reading Lincolns personal journals.

The trailer doesn’t look terrible. It looks as if it could be a decent movie… except for the fact that Abraham Lincoln is the story’s protagonist. I have to agree that this storyline is probably full retard.

I’m a bit of a Lincoln scholar; I found the book compelling, but flawed. I will see the movie, but I’m afraid that I might be wasting my money.

I picked up the book a while back… haven’t gotten around to reading it yet though. Might just have to wait til after the movie now.
This would’ve made more sense if the film starred a president who was a renowned hunter/soldier/badass like Andrew Jackson or Theodore Roosevelt, Abe Lincoln just seems weird.
Have to Disagree, while Jackson and Roosevelt do have well deserved reputations as badasses, so does Lincoln. at one of his first political rallies he broke up a fight by throwing a guy twelve feet, was said to be able to lift 1000lb weights, and once got into a fight with an entire street gang. And won.
+1 on Jackson. You know why they called him Old Hickory? Because he carried a cane made of hickory, and he used it to beat people! Not too much a stretch to sharpen that bad boy into a vampire stake.
I don’t know if you’re making that up on purpose because it fits your needs, but that’s not correct.
What’s not correct? In grade school (public, but still), I read that Jackson used his cane to beat the man who failed to assassinate him. OK, perhaps the cane wasn’t really made of hickory. Perhaps the whole story was a fiction.

What’s not correct is that that’s the reason he was called “Old Hickory.” He did, according to legend, attack a would-be assassin with his cane. However, that happened in his second term as President (in 1835). The nickname “Old Hickory” was given to him by the men he commanded in the War of 1812. They thought he was as tough as a piece of hickory wood.

Song was used in the credit sequence of the 2004 Dawn of the Dead to great effect. One of the best credit sequences ever, because of it.
It looks like a big budget mess. The filmmakers missed an opportunity to make something more crafty and sly – a Lincoln hunting the supernatural whilst struggling to hold a nation together, and keeping his nocturnal habits a complete mystery to his cabinet, his family and the nation as a whole. The real Abe apparently had some serious psychological issues, and they could have played up this angle, perhaps even suggesting the supernatural bloodsuckers were in some way a manifestation of his anxieties as he dealt with the Confederacy.
Wow what you just described sounds like a heck of an awesome movie.
The book was excellent, I hope the movie lives up to it.
