Public Shooting Range In Pakistan – Hold My Chai And Watch This

Turning money into noise P-Stan style…  Safety Nazis, this will ruin your Monday:

Being a safety Nazi myself, my head almost exploded 50 times during the video.  The video never shows the area they are shooting towards, but my guess is it’s not a 600ft high pile of sand… probably more like a school or a city backstop after watching these geniuses.

I’m not even going to do a “highlight commentary” on this, because frankly the whole video is the highlight.

The lack of ear and eye protection make it looks like a tryout for FPS Pakistan.

Thoughts?  Anyone looking to head over there to fill a much needed Range Safety Officer position? :P

Yeah, I think they were just trying to get their ball down from off of the roof; cut them some slack. /sarc

look ma’ .. me can shoot without aiming (seriously, what’s the use of shooting when you just look away..)

Reply

Mike April 16, 2012 at 12:49 am

Aim? Nah! I mean, the whole point is that visceral feeling of power you get from the recoil and the concussion and noise of the muzzle blast. Gotta concentrate on that and not worry about things like where the bullet ends up. Aiming- pffft!

Spot on! This is just the yin that balances out the yang of Modern Pentathletes being moved over to simulated shooting with laser pistols at this year’s Olympics (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/olympics/7959533/London-2012-Olympics-laser-guns-to-be-used-over-air-pistols-for-modern-pentathlon.html).

That is leaked footage of Pakistan’s new missile defense system. I think it’s still in the “development” phase.

Mike: “The video never shows the area they are shooting towards, but my guess is it’s not a 600ft high pile of sand…”
My guess is it’s a couple of thousand feet of mountain. The road they’re standing on zig-zags sharply up what looks like a steep hillside behind them, so it’s a fair guess there’s another in front. Plus the road will only be on one side of the valley, and that will also be where the houses are, so it’s a fair bet the other side of the valley is unpopulated.

When the camera pans a bit towards the end it looks like there might be a dropoff after the edge of the road. Who know’s what’s below?

Yeah, the sounds the shots are making seems like they’re shooting into something big like the side of a mountain. It’s almost like there’s a single echo really soon after each shot.

What are they shooting at? Ducks? Maybe they took some queues from Commando and are practising blasting people out of spot light towers.

This is probably a post wedding shoot. Not a shooting range. Doesn’t make it any less funny, but the purpose is to make noise, not perfect their Weaver.

They’re just practicing for the wedding celebration.

The answer is obvious, the photographers stand downrange, so the only way to be safe is to shoot over their heads. BTW, bonus points for the guy at 3:00 who keeps firing while he bends down to pick up something off the ground.

Keep going guys, with this kind of training you’re sure to defeat anyone who would invade your country!

I really don’t get the point of not aiming at all ! Anywayyyyyyyyy.

Adam April 16, 2012 at 09:47 am

Even if they were shooting at a village/school/town/populated area, judging by how well they aim, they’d probably hit the 600ft high dirt berm next to the area anyway.

epic muzzle sweep with the shotty. props for shooting while you pick up your unspent round. at least we didnt hear allah akbar. and they are aiming they are such good marksmen, that now they are shooting target using trajectory. pretty badass.

“600 ft high pile of sand”

I laughed so hard.

Hey Mike what if the camera panned over and it really was a 600 foot tall pile of sand they were shooting into?

I reckon your face would be something like this: http://i.imgur.com/EA55d.jpg

The gun range for the Iraqi Police in Mosul is the tidal flat of the Tigris River. With a bridge for a back stop. In the middle of the city. With residential houses forming the left and right limits.

Calling it a range is kind. It was an area that the goats had eaten the weeds. There were targets. And the city of Mosul was the back stop. They shot pistols and AKs there. It is a minor miracle that more people are not killed everyday.

These guys need to buy some Glocks and 1911s for sure. Every gun out there seemed to jam up constantly. Just cause they’re 3rd world doesn’t excuse really shitty pistols. I mean, c’mon did you see that one guy just before that huge mangy dude in yellow? His gun wouldn’t fire two shots in a row even.

I have a friend from Lahore who upon arriving to CA where I used to live and shoot often, went shooting with me. But first, at my home, he took notice of the gun-nuttery in my home and so I showed him some guns. He seemed to be careful in handling them and he thought it would be fun to shoot so we planned a range trip. Well, upon arriving there and introducing him to ear and eye prot, range safety rules like not handling guns or being near the bench during cease fire, the 4 basic rules, etc, he finally got to shoot. We started with a 92fs which of course he’s seen lots in movies. He immediately holds with one hand and bangs away at the target and we get yelled at because he rapid fired (more than 1 per second). Anyway, I showed him proper grip, sight picture, shot cadence, etc. Anyway, yeah, I think his previous experience was much like the above video or at weddings. It’s a very manly macho thing to do indeed.

I’m pretty sure what we are seeing here is an actual gun battle between the Pakistan Special forces and a group of Taliban insurgents fresh from Afghanistan. Sure, you may say there is no evidence that these guys are taking in coming rounds and to that I say the Taliban uses pretty much the same shooting technique and there is a very fine line between not taking incoming rounds and taking incoming rounds fired by people like this. Go Pakistan.

Kommac April 16, 2012 at 09:49 pm

Wait, since when are Pakistan and the Talibs on opposite sides?

Reply

Adam April 16, 2012 at 05:52 pm

My guess is that these guys are test-firing handmade pakistani guns.

That’s why they are turning their heads away when they fire. They don’t know if it’s going to blow up.

These folks live in a world *just* out of the stone age, with modern day technology such as firearms within their grasp. This is quite normal from what I saw over there, as in SE Asia. Might not be as cringe-worthy, but I saw 5 guys on one 50cc moped… You’ll cringe, but for different reasons.
