Triple Tap – A Movie About Chinese IPSC

High Speed Low Drag Chinese style from 2010:

So the red guy is good, the black guy is bad.  How typical haha… can I get a “That’s racist!” ? :P

I know it’s a movie, but both those guy handle a race gun like an extension of their body.

You can hit up IMDB for a plot summary and cast list.

Thoughts?  Anyone seen this?

There isn’t a whole lot of shooting for the whole rest of the movie. I was disappointed. I think the first movie (this is a sequel) has more shooting in it.

    1. Do you know the name of the first movie?

        Double Tap.

  5. the black shirt guy looks more professional.. maybe it’s the handgun, the red reflex sight just looks silly.

The movie is called “Triple Tap” and it was hilariously mediocre.
It’s one of those bad guy not the guy you think it is until the end kinda films. But there’s this older character who’s “retired” but the cop goes to for advice and he’s got some kind of sixth sense about crimes? It’s never explained… just implied.
The action is ok though. It’s not huge budget kind of action but I didn’t turn it off after the first 30 minutes.

I think the range master Is Clarence Lai . He makes custom airsoft pistols that range from 600-2500 USD.

Clarence Lai has become a most prominent figure in Airsoft. His work as an Airsoft gunsmith and with the IPSC has helped him to gain recognition and respect the World over. From the resplendent beauty of his one-off pistols, to his active work in promoting the IPSC in Asia, his work within the Airsoft community is highly admirable. Not only has Clarence assembled custom guns for some of the most notable race shooters around the world (including the owner of Infinity Pistols), he has also provided many of his creations for use in films.
It all started when at the age of 7, Clarence first started playing with guns, and from this, a passion for all things gun-related was born. His intrigue in the workings of the gun as well aesthetics naturally led him towards becoming a gunsmith, and is also partial to participating in shooting competitions such as the IPSC (Clarence was the first foreigner to take part in the IPSC Japan competition), which took him to countries such as Taiwan and the Philippines, using both Airsoft and real guns. In fact, CL was responsible for helping to bring the IPSC to Hong Kong and still plays an active role in promoting the IPSC in Hong Kong.
Now, Clarence has almost two decades of experience as an Airsoft gunsmith, and produces an array of custom guns and upgrade parts under his own brands – Airsoft Surgeon/CL Custom. After co-founding a well-known Airsoft shop in Hong Kong, he moved on and went independent, from this Airsoft Surgeon/CL Custom was conceived. Clarence continues to play an active role in the airsoft IPSC shooting community, as well as in the real steel shooting competitions.

It seems like someone involved with the movie is actually familiar with real shooting sports. In lots of other movies, when it comes to guns, its like someone who has never held a gun made all the details up, or copied them from other movies.

  11. its on netflix

  12. Double Tap was the first movie. You can own guns in HK, but they are kept at the range/club you being too. Its quite expensive to own guns there. Thats why the gun rental business in Guam and Vietnam is popular. I have friends that visit here from HK and will kill 2k of 5.56 in a few hours.

  13. I tried watching this on netflix a little while ago… I couldn’t finish it… It just got worse and worse.

  14. I love the segways! we should get those for our local matches! ROFL!

I started watching this recently, thinking it was a Hong Kong action flick like the old John Woo stuff I used to watch. I didn’t finish it, as after the initial action it quickly turned into a legal drama about a guy using his firearm to defend the life of a police officer, and in turn being charged with murder and breaking firearms laws.

***Minor spoilers of the first 20 min….

It’s pretty disgusting, really. This guy finishes his shooting match, has to lock his gun and ammo in separate cases, put the fun in the front of his car and the ammo in the trunk, and he’s supposed to take it straight to the gun club for storage. But on the way, he comes to an armored car that’s being robbed. While he’s unlocking everything and loading his magazine, a couple guards from the armored car are murdered. Then a cop shows up and is shot. Finally the guy has his gun loaded and engages the robbers before they can finish off the cop. Hero? Not in China!

One awesome moment is when the cops are going over the robbery case, and they note that one of the guns used by the robbers was in fact a real firearm assembled from toy gun parts! Yes, because airsoft guns can be readily converted into machineguns! Or so we’re told.
